re: Shug Jordon in 25 years never won a major bowl game? But the stadium is named after him.

And Pat Dye made Bear Bryant’s arse quit.

TT, you and I BOTH know that ain't so. Coach Bryant was a dead man walking when he retired and he knew it. The seriousness of his health problem wasn't a well kept secret around Tuscaloosa.
"Bryant’s doctor William Hill said he was amazed that Bryant even coached at all over his last three years. He won two national titles over his last five seasons despite suffering a stroke and “mild heart failure.”

“It makes his achievement the last few years all the more remarkable,” Dr. Hill told the New York Times in 1983. “He was a very courageous man. I seriously doubt there are many people who could have overcome what he did in the last three years to accomplish the feat.”

I looked it up and it was dozens of pages of Auburn was buying players left and right and were on probation for 5 years. Shug was involved in all payments to players.

I always assumed it was named after Michael Jordan and Bugs Bunny.

The Albert Means recruitment alone involved more money than that the total of Auburn issues and quite possibly the entire SEC issues combined.

Pat Dye himself was recorded by a player agreeing to pay him money. Not boosters, nobody but Dye himself to blame. Anybody who would've hired him in the 90's would've had the ncaa on their arse like stink on shite. This is why nobody would hire him.

Nothing touches the Ole Miss cases in 2017. Only about 10% made the media. Why do you think Freeze has not been hired.

Shug is the absolute most mediocre coach to be deified. He won the SEC exactly once while on probation for being a convicted NCAA cheat. Bryant absolutely owned him.

But twice the man. While Bryant was getting out of combat coaching servicemen in the US, Shug was storming the beaches of Normandy. I love how the Bammers call him a cheater but ignore the Book “The Junction Boys”.

“Tell us why Auburn did not play in a bowl game in 1957.“

Tell us why Shug beat Florida 16 times in 25 games.

No point really. They were so good in 1957 that the AP told Shug to rest up and crowned Auburn champs.

Oklahoma was similarly honored in 1974.

You should really brush up on history. I thought your other abortion of a thread might have taught you something but apparently not.
