But all these Auburn fans will tell you he is some all time elite great coach.
Face it Pat Dye was better.

Auburn was like really bad until Pat Dye won them a couple SEC championships.

In the era when SEC teams didn’t play the same number of games, he would have won more SEC titles if Auburn did. 1972 is a perfect example.
He also coached basketball before he coached football. He was wounded leading his men into battle on Normandy. Perfect Southern Gentleman to boot. He is more deserving to have his name on a stadium than most other coaches who do.

Check history back then. There were only 4 major Bowls back and one was the Rose. That is like saying ND was not a great program because they only played in a few Bowl Games.

AL Hghway 53 in Huntsville is named Jordan Lane. I was told it was named after somebody in the same family by a Huntsville historian. Which means we mispronounce it and have for decades now. It should be said like "Jerdan" but we say it like "Jordan", like Michael Jordan.

He should have scheduled more SEC games in 1972. A smart coach would have foreseen a possible problem and corrected it.

Bear was old. Dye certainly didn't make him quit. Pat Dye is a nobody. Bear Bryant and his legacy will live on for centuries to come.

Yea but to fair Jordan-Hare sounds a lot better than Dye-Hare. One sounds like a Michael Jordan shoe, and the other sounds like Dennis Rodman.

To be fair, they were playing 10 an 11 game seasons back then. Not playoffs and bowls for everyone.
