It’s the most unique QB situation Saban has ever had at Alabama anyway. He’s got the work horse, the guy you know will beat 80% of your schedule, but is limited. Then you got the guy that can make plays and throws from anywhere, but takes risks, and makes dumb throws sometimes. I don’t think it’s fhe age or experience either. Some QB’s just do that. It’s the Bret Farve QB. Will Saban be able to live with that?

I think 2019 will be different. The defense will take a step back at a level that I don’t think we’re used to seeing. Usually, if the pass rush departs, the secondary picks up the slack, and visa versa. This year, both are revamps. Alabama is going to have to outscore some teams. He’ll have to gamble for the first time at that position.

This is almost verbatim what I've been saying. I'm afraid that Alabama fans are gonna have to get used to not being baled out by the defense this year as in the past. We're gonna have to outscore some folks to survive next year, imo. I'm hoping that the defense can get rolling later in the season when we'll catch our toughest opposition.

Florida.

Runner with just enough passing ability to be credible.

Second coming of the Second Coming.

No thanks we don’t want him . He can run the ball but his passing is a joke . He would have to sit out a year , plus he Bama will never allow him to go UF.

Better than any "throwing" QB you guys have had since probably Tebow.

Hurts wouldn't start at either. He is a north texas type guy.

Even so, you'll still have the first or second best defense in the SEC imo. too much talent. 2019, that 2017 record haul are all gonna be juniors.

I'm done with transfer Qb's honestly.

I want to see what the new recruit can do and Franks with an actual QB coach. Franks has the arm talent. Let's see if Brian Johnson and Mullen can fix the cluster frick that is his mind.

He should call Paul Johnson and go sit a year. He will never be more than a clip board holder for Tua from this point barring injury. Some say he should switch positions but get real. Which 4 or 5 star player is he gonna beat out and at what position? He only has two years left and he has probably never played another position since middle school or lower.

Jalen Hurts at Georgia Tech would be stellar if he learned to read the defense and properly keep or pitch. The pass plays often scheme a wide open look and he seems to always hit those.

He still won't sniff the NFL but most college kids don't.

Tua's ability to score, and score quickly will still be the overriding factor. Hell, teams have to work their arse off to score on Alabama, and here you've got a guy who can score from anywhere...anytime.

When DCs start gameplanning for Tua things will looks very different.

The kid is good but the fact that he was unexpected by GA made him look a lot better.

We did, but not fully. You had to plan for him as a possibility, but they wouldn't put the same amount of time in preparation for him as they did with Hurts. You have time limit on practice, and you can't devote your whole practice to a guy who will not start and may not even play.

Of coiurse, that's the way it's gonna be most of the time, but you will face some defenses that can slow you down.

Are you trying to tell me Alabama is not going to win every game by 40 with Tua at QB?

Against Alabama they're gonna have to load up against the run or they'll be run out of the stadium. You don't stop Alabama's run game with "straight-up" 4-3 or 3-4 defenses. Unless somebody can find a way to put 13 men on the field, Alabama's gonna have an edge at one or the other.

I doubt he'd make it at any other major program other than hiding behind a great defense like bama... and enough of this myth of tua being turnover-prone... Jalen hurts has a ton of fumbles during his two year career..

Good lord you are a hypersensitive bunch of twats, no one claimed he would suck or that Bama was going down, simply that with time to prepare most defenses are not going to give up 1,000 yards a game to him.

He was a change of pace in the NC game and it worked to perfection, starting a full season is a different animal and teams will assume Bama can complete a forward pass and actually defend it.

There have been a few other good mobile QBs pass through the SEC in the last few years.
