As as result of only rotating 1 cross division opponent, USC has only played Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss 6 times each during the regular season since the expansion season in '92.

This is what we have to look forward to because it will only get worse with the addition of another team to each division and the return to only rotating one cross division opponent.

Kentucky has only beaten Alabama twice (1922 and 1997)

UA is 168-33-7 vs. the state of Mississippi.

From 1994-2004, if MSU won the Egg Bowl Bama won the Iron Bowl, and if Ole Miss won the Egg Bowl Auburn won the Iron Bowl.

Bear Bryant's record in Denny Stadium(now Bryant-Denny) was 74-2. He lost to Florida in 1963, and to Southern Miss in 1982, which was his last game coached in Denny.

LSU played in the National Championship Game (all of which in New Orleans) in the following years ....

2003...
2007...
2011...
__?___

(We'll see if the pattern continues in 2015)

Alabama has won 9 AP National titles. In every championship year, a Democrat has either been the sitting president or incoming President-elect.

Since joining the SEC, Arkansas head coaches are 0-5-1 against Mississippi St in their first season as head coach. In all other seasons combined they are 15-1.

Another interesting thing that came to mind... Everyone is aware of the lengthy winning streak LSU has over Mississippi State, but many are not aware that the streak would actually be at 22 consecutive wins (going all the way back to Miss St's last victory over LSU in 1991) had instant replay been in effect in 1999, which it was not yet adopted by any conference in the NCAA. Had there been instant replay, Miss St's last minute game-winning touchdown on 4th down would not have stood in 1999. As it is, Miss St did win the game, ending a 7-game LSU win streak, but the Bulldogs have not beaten LSU since that controversial win in 1999.

From 1980-84, State beat LSU 5 times in a row. Since then they are 3-26 against the Tigers.

The most recent team to win back to back SEC titles is Tennessee.

The most recent team to make back to back SEC title game appearance is Georgia.

In 2010 Greg McElroy came 13 yards short of being the first Bama QB to pass for 3000 yards. Oddly enough, 13 was the number of National Titles Bama claimed at the time.

This decade, only two SEC teams have not had a winning season.....Kentucky and Tennessee...all other league teams have had at least one winning season.

2014 will mark the first season Arkansas & South Carolina have not played in the regular season since both joined the league in 1992.
