I believe Mizzou would be the Big 10 right now if Nebraska had been kicked out of the AAU a year earlier than they were.

I think the big 10 knew nub was getting kicked out, and preferred Mizzou, but Mizzou didn’t have the money to get partial payment side seven years. Nub did, and jumped at the opportunity.

Mizzou certainly got the better of that deal looking at the results of the two football programs.

I’m thrilled Mizzou is in the SEC. The road trips are way, way better, as is the competition. However, to say none of the fanbase wanted the big 10 is just not accurate.

A large portion of the STL fanbase wanted the big 10.

Same thing for Texas A&M and the Big 10. We don't want that shite even if we did get a little pissed off that Texas joined the SEC and got praise for it after talking shite about how it was a conference of inbreaders for over a decade.

Big10 offered junior membership money for a certain number of years (Nebraska took junior money).

Mizzou picked the SEC full money option.

Now that makes sense and is plausible. Everybody knows that the MU was pining for the B1G. There may have even been some unofficial 'negotiations'. Nebraska was willing to blush, swallow its pride, and lift up their skirt. Missouri wasn't.

And then the SEC invite came....

I live in STL and didn’t see that. Oh well, not going to argue.

My main point is when SEC was interested, fans pretty much unanimously wanted to join. That was not the case with the Big10.

On that, we agree. I don’t think many people even considered the SEC or thought it was an option.

When it became clear it was an option, everyone I knew was all in.

The junior membership info is accurate. It would have crippled us, as it did Nebraska.

Don't forget that Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State had one foot out the door to the PAC, and it was derailed at the last minute when TX would not give up the Longhorn Network. We were looking down the barrel of a mid-major conference with the kansas schools, Iowa State, and a couple Texas rejects that we had nothing in common with. The SEC offer was a godsend.

St. Louis support has always been split between Big 10 and Big 8/12. Mizzou still does not get even half of the top recruits each year, with most of the top ones going to Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, even Illinois (and Notre Dame).

No joke your trashy little program wanted to go to the SEC, that isn't a surprise to anyone.

The SEC didn't want you all though and that is why the Missouri State Bears will be taking your spot next year.

SEC is currently tiger saturated anyways, this move makes sense for everyone.

Back at that time, I can remember SEC folks wishing for West Virginia over Missouri.

Instead of adding another rabid fanbase, the SEC chose "markets".

I don’t know where the narrative started that Mizzou fans were clamoring for the Big 10

The B1G indicated a desire to expand in 2009 y'all showed your skirts firsts.

Then Nebraska got jealous and pulled the plug a month later

No need to revise history B1G started the 2010-2014 shuffle and y'all were first to try to dance.

But what was wrong with the Big12? From afar that’s what many of us don’t understand. We heard they were too obsessed with UT, then Texas even leaves them.

We went to Atlanta in year 2 and 3 and won high revenue bowl games both years. We won 12 games and had we beat Auburn would have played for the title in 2013.

In comparison Aggie has had 1 season of double digit wins. That’s the end of the accomplishment list.

Also South Carolina with a 20 year head start has been to Atlanta once.

The merge with the Texas schools was a terrible decision for the big 8. How you all feel adding us 4 big 12 schools is kind of how the original big 8 felt only now imagine you all invite all 4 of us and we started dictating terms to you. At least the SEC leadership has a spine and won’t let Texas or any one university dictate how things are done here.
