re: Serious question about Louisiana State football for next season

I will give you a serious answer although it might be a waste of time.

FWIW just about every CFB writer that does an “early top 25” has put LSU in the top 10, so it’s not just LSU fans hyping up the team.

QB - Garrett Nussmeier returns for his second season as a starter after completing 64% of his passes for 4052 yds, 29TD 12INT. No doubt there are areas in which he needs to improve, but LSU fans have recently witnessed Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels drastically improve from year 1 to year 2, which is a big reason for next season’s expectations.
LSU added Michael Van Buren who started 10 games as a freshman on a bad Miss St team. Not saying he’ll turn out to be a great QB, but as an insurance policy next year we could do much worse.
RB - Caden Durham returns after a solid freshman season in which he ran for 771 yds and avg 5.4 per carry. Harlem Berry and JT Lindsey are highly rated incoming freshman.
WR - LSU returns Aaron Anderson (61 for 884/5TD), and a healthy Chris Hilton who looked great in the final 2 games of ‘24. LSU added proven WRs in Nic Anderson from OU and Barion Brown from UK.
TE - Trey’dez Green returns and he is a freak of nature, but more of a receiving threat than a blocker. Bauer Sharp of OU and Donovan Green of A&M were added from the portal and figure to be solid blocking TE’s.
OL - LSU added two of the top interior OL in the portal - C Braelin Moore of VT and G Josh Thompson from Northwestern. Moore at C allows incumbent starter DJ Chester to play his natural position at guard. Tackles will be a question mark, 5 star Weston Davis and Tyree Adams could be starters

DL - LSU returns DT Jacobian Guillory who missed 2024, as well as Dominick McKinley and Ahmad Breaux who played a ton as freshman and improved throughout the season. LSU added Patrick Payton from FSU who is a 1st round talent at edge and SDE Jack Pyburn from UF.
LB - Whit Weeks, Harold Perkins, and West Weeks all return for what should be one of the strongest LB units in the league.
CB - Added freshman DJ Pickett who is a 1st round talent, a proven veteran Mansour Delane from VT who can also play safety, Jakeem Jackson from UF, and returning sophs Ashton Stamps and PJ Woodland
S - Added Tamarcus Cooley, top ranked S in the portal from NC State
