This may be true down the line but it currently is not

I’ve been saying that lsu has so far been unable to compete in the nil era. Hopefully they can find funding from somewhere
I know this is a troll but it’s just a bad one
LSU has the current #2 ranked 2024 and #1 2025 recruiting classes
I guess these kids are taking out student loans just for a chance to be on the team. NIL be damned

If LSU doesn’t add some talent, they will struggle to be a middle of the pack SEC team next year.

LSU has already added the catcher and top two starters from Wofford via the portal. Saw all of them up close in Chapel Hill. I think they’ll be just fine.

I stated this last week, and I was told that LSU didn’t want those players even though a few of those players where highly ranked recruits including the highest ranked LSU recruit ever.

Whole lotta mid players leaving.

The only three that were highly thought of were Neal Johnson and Kling
Neal is the poster boy for why you don’t reclassify to get to college early
Johnson can’t harness his stuff and the sec will make you pay if you can’t
Kling was overwhelmed at the plate for two years in sec play

They hardly won any SEC series this year.
They basically only beat the worst teams - Missouri, Ole Miss, Auburn, etc.

Cam Johnson is an elite arm.
He cant throw strikes and threw 9 innings all season long while being completely healthy. Kind of useless to throw high 90s from the left side if you issue 19 free passes while getting 27 total outs all season long.
Some these guys definitely have potential, but especially guys like Kling and Neal have had a couple years to prove themselves and just havent. We cant count on guys like that to suddenly be good in their junior seasons. Jay can easily go out and find proven guys in the portal.
I think Neal could be pretty good, he's been injured the last couple years but he still just hasnt proven anything quite yet. He was looking for promises to start next season and Jay cant afford to give that given his history. He was terrible behind the plate this year (6 PB, 5 errors as well) in only 23 total starts and could not hit SEC pitching. Again, the injury could have played a part, but Jay isnt promising a guy like that a starting job just because its his money year. We are bringing in 2 very highly thought of catchers in Priester from JUCO and likely Arrambide from high school. Frey and Jones also have taken catcher reps in the past and can play there. There's a good chance Neal might not have taken the starting catcher role had he stayed here, even with the roster clearing out of current catchers.
We also have one of the top classes in the country coming in with the #10 overall ranked player Curiel withdrawing his name from the draft making him the highest ranked player we will have ever brought on campus.

All of these guys are leaving to get more playing time and/or get their stats up against weaker competition.
Not like a bunch of starters are leaving.

Some of these guys are smart to hit the portal. In my opinion, moffet and Johnson both have quality stuff. Moffett came around mid season and I think whoever picks him up will be pleasantly surprised when they see his stuff vs his numbers. Johnson couldn’t throw strikes and might still struggle throwing multiple pitches for strikes next year as well, but he’ll be good when it comes together.
Neal has good power, but he really didn’t have the best plate discipline and he was pretty subpar defensively. Dude should try and go get coached by schnall at coastal.
Kling just can’t hit yet. If he can get it together he will be very valuable as a player.
The rest of those players either have barely played, or are just average roster filling sort of guys.
Jay usually does well in the portal. I think we’ll be fine.

Ya'll seem to be under the impression that they're interested in having an intelligent discussion on this.
