After Bama at #1 it gets a little cloudy to round out the top four. Georgia, LSU, and Auburn split the next three spots pretty evenly (Officialy it is UGA/AU/LSU in order separated by less than a .5 mean) with Florida holding fifth and Missouri at sixth. The rest is anybody's game at this point, with Tennessee holding a commanding (71%) of the last place votes.

Florida hosts Auburn in a Top 10 match up, but each team will still hold their own destiny after the East-West showdown.

quote:

It was a record setting SEC Home Opener for Alabama as Devonta Smith went for 5 TDs and 274 yards against Ole Miss in an easy Tide victory. With their first bye week here, Bama looks to shore some things up with a young defense and get ready for what should be a soft middle of the season.

quote:

With the QB issues at Kentucky I see them losing to BYE this weekend.

quote:

6 minutes into the 1st quarter, Auburn was already up by 21 on MSU. No, that’s not a typo. It’s rare when Auburn completely dismantles an SEC opponent, so the excitement on The Plains is understandable. Up next is a top10 matchup in The Swamp, an old rivalry both teams were forced to give up during the SEC’s ‘92 expansion.

quote:

Bully is our best defender, who knew? Thankfully we have a bye week after that embarrassment, but we opened up as underdogs to the bye. It will be interesting to see if we can pull off the upset.

quote:

Yay! We narrowly beat Arkansas in a very close game! Oh crap! We barely beat Arkansas in a close game....

quote:

Coming off the bye, the Fighting Tigers of LSU get one more tune up game before the grueling 4 game stretch of Florida, @ Ms State, Auburn, and @ Bama define their season. Utah St features a few impressive players including potential first round pick QB Jordan Love. Tigers favored by 24, but I would take the points in what could be a potential trap game if the Tigers are looking ahead at all. LSU 45 Utah St 28.

quote:

Needed bye week after the battle vs. Notre Dame. Big road game against Tennessee this week with a lot of coaches that know the program well. Hopefully we can set the tone early and take the crowd out of things.

quote:

Florida now faces it's biggest challenge so far this season. How will Trask respond to a constant blitz? How will Florida get around not having an O-Line? Will Florida's defense stop Nix? So many questions this week and a lot will be answered.

Best of the Week

A close loss to A&M in Jerryworld? A shocking development.

Time for Florida to put on big boy pants Preferably a dark color so that the whole CFB world doesn't see them shite themselves on game day.

Much deserved breather after that grueling start.

In all honestly Bama is just hoping that someone stays within 3 TDs before the SECCG unlike last year. They were totally unprepared for the postseason.

Not that shocking to anyone who's followed the series over the years. I was cautiously optimistic it would be a close game again.

Of the 9 games played in Arlington for the SW classic 7 have had the final score decided by 1 possesion. Very similar to LSU vs Arkansas from 2001-2010 where 8 of 10 games were decided by 1 possesion.

That being said if A&M was actually that much more talented or Arkansas that much worse we should of had the brakes beat off us........I think Kentucky would be wise to not overlook us.

Looks like someone voted UF ahead of Auburn? Looks like they have some representative homer from UF

Missouri is the 5th best team in the SEC. Tigers defense is likely right behind Auburn for the SEC's two best defenses.

the drop off from Missouri at 5 to Florida at 6 and the rest of us beyond is a considerable gap at this point in the season.

Agreed, there would be absolutely zero reason to place UF ahead of AU. Get that voter off the panel, it's terrible.

I don't know if that's a troll, but I think it's true. I honestly think Alabama was as good as Clemson, but choked up when they couldn't score at will early, and collapsed.

I’m just assuming our first place votes are attempted jinx votes

We will know Saturday, the difference was AU/UF swapped at 4 and 5.

The voters place the teams 1-14 (which is noted on the left). So as you look at each number, you see how many votes that team got in the position. So this week you see 1st place you see mostly Bama, 2 for Auburn, and 1 for UGA. The bigger the "chunk" the more votes for that team in the slot (1-14) they received. This shows more of a spread that if we just did (based off of this weeks actual score) 1) Bama 2) Georgia 3) Auburn 4) LSU...

The LSU fan who put Auburn in 1st place was not an attempted jinx. It could be argued that they have the strongest resume in the country and just took a decent football team behind the woodshed. Said LSU fan could be rewarding that with a 3 spot jump in the rankings. Just a thought

We were absolute trash in the redzone in the title game. And for sure it would’ve been close if we were decent up there. But our defense was so lethargic and pitiful in the game I don’t think we would’ve won. It was literally pick and choose who to go deep to for Lawrence
