"Bama fan" is the term I use to refer to the type of person you just described.

I had never heard of sidewalk fans until we moved to the SEC. We always called people who didn't attend the school 't-shirt fans'

Updyke is definitely the leader in the clubhouse. The only problem is it already has a bit of usage and people only attach it to the Bammers.

We could always expand it's meaning, though.

But it meets your definition of "sidewalk, life revolves around the team" in OP.

I can't think of a better definition of a sidewalk fan. The man named his daughter Ali Bama!

Correction: Named his son, Bear Bryant and daughter Crimson Tyde... holy Fk nugget lol

Every team has there fair share of "updykes" but this dude took the cake.

This is very easy, George, George, George, and the term has already been coined by elites.

It’s REDS.

Yeah but our "T Shirt fans" in Texas are the loud obnoxious fans OP is talking about.

A Bama sidewalk fans is 100X more committed on average to their program than your average Longhorn T-Shirt fan.

Also in my experience sidewalk Bama fans are much more respectful about A&M's traditions than every person wearing burnt orange in our state.

I think "T Shirt Fan" is a great term for what OP is looking for.

REDS live vicariously through the success of their favorite football team. The common RED is typically ready to irl fight with zero second thought when threatened by a rival fan, regardless of circumstances. Some are even willing to kill over it. These people are known as uberREDS.

The term sidewalk fans gets missused here all the time. A sidewalk fan is a fan that only cheers for a team when they are good.

Most Bama fans, redneck or not, only cheer for Bama.

I'm glad I graduated from Auburn and we don't have these kind of problems.

Probably not as many as Bama but I know Barn fans in West Alabama that couldn’t find Auburn on a map.

We all use the term "sidewalker", but that includes folks who just didn't go to a school for whatever reason (went somewhere else, joined the military, tuition was too much, got a job out of HS, etc). Generally, when we use the term "sidewalker" we are talking about those people who have stickers all over their care, talk shite to other fans and whose entire lives are whatever team they pull for.

Those folks need their own "term". So, with the prodding of OleManDixon, I think we need to come up with a term for these folks. We can even trademark it and let Chicken make all the money.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Why do they deserve a name?

Well, he's a Texan. Go big or go home, as the Texans say.
