1) Mike Bianco- Dean of coaches in the SEC, built OM program from basically nothing. Only missed post season 3 times in 21 years. Class act and defending national champion.
2) Jim Schlossnagle 6 CWS appearances, TCU was dominate for a stretch, Aggies turn around in 22 was incredible.
3) Dave Van Horn- We know what we are going to get with Van Horn. Can put together some of the best regular season teams ever but seems to fall short when it matters.
4) Chris Lemonis- solid coach, took advantage of others building states program up and recruiting. Only is here because of the natty in 2021.
5) Jay Johnson- Could make the argument to be #4. Could shoot up the list as well with the bank account he is working with. However just 2 CWS appearances and really under achieved his first year at LSU.
6) Butch Thompson- Really like Butch, good coach, conference record below .500 hurts.
7) Brad Bohannon- Does what he can for a school that only has the resources to invest in one sport.

I would put Lemonis at 2 or 3. He won a title two years ago.

It is weird to think that Bianco has gone from the brink of being fired to now, arguably, the best coach in the loaded SEC West

I remember LSU’s problem last year was fielding. Let’s see how much they improve. Hitting wasn’t a problem.

A vocal minority wanted him gone, which was dumb. Been on the Bianco wagon for 20+ years. Really glad lsu went another direction ha ha.

We literally had no pitching and zero depth. Hitting was the only thing we had.

LSU was top 10 preseason last year were they not? 7th in coaches poll and 8th in D1.

Talent LSU had last year, to finish 25th in D1 poll, that is underachieving.

LSU is leading the pack by a mile in NIL for baseball, that is just a fact.

Not doubting this is correct, but wondering if there is any source for this fact.

Just have to follow the transfers I guess, schools aren't breaking out the NIL that I could find. Maybe that is just hearsay but it is being bragged on by the LSU boosters.

2. Bianco - (Natty)

Him winning is why he is ahead of Johnson. He needs to establish himself some more, win with his guys.

Wrong. Had we not gotten in or lost in Miami, he was about to be shown the door. Mainly because of him interviewing and essentially accepting the LSU job the year prior but then LSU pulled out at the last second due to backlash. It was so far along that Ole Miss already had a contract and agreement with Dan McDonnell in place waiting on a signature.

And until last year, considering how much talent we had pissed away with the facilities, fan support and money he had been given, it was warranted for people to want him gone. Just because you build something up doesn’t mean you get a pass.

Wrong... Heard it out of KC mouth he was not firing him. OM baseball has been in the black just about every year the last decade. Ticket sales increase every year. Now Bianco has all the haters by the balls.

If I was hiring a coach to run my program today, top 3 on my list would be (in no particular order) Schloss, Van Horn, and Johnson.

No CWS titles for any of them (DVH and Johnson were each a win away), but the winning at a high level at multiple stops is the separator for me.

our fielding sucked but we didn't have much as far as a starting rotation either. Great pitching usually neutralizes great hitting also.

It was well known going into the season it was Omaha or bust for him at the start of the year. That was the only issue was the program had been built into a regular CWS team and he couldn't ever get there. Now he has a ring, he has a lifetime contract. It makes perfect sense.

Losing to usm in Hattiesburg is exactly the standard of LSU baseball?

I was pretty disappointed with LSU last year. I’m normally a give a coach 3 years kinda guy but our team is stacked this season. He really has no excuse not to make a nice CWS run.

This was not the case. Pitching was the problem.
