Gold’s call of 2nd and 26 was just… for a moment of that magnitude (literally a play to win a National title) it was like he was calling the reply of the game.

Mick Hubert’s “OOOHHHHHH MYYYYYY” at literally every turn is the most try-hard, contrived catchphrase ive ever heard a professional radio announcer use. It’s cringeworthy, especially because he’s a perfectly good announcer otherwise.

Scott Howard sucks, Munson forever.

Eli Gold was bad and the clock malfunction did him no favors

He’s also bad about not giving the down & distance between plays. Heard he was pizzed big time at Savage for yelling Touchdown! before he did on the 2nd & 26 play call :)

I said what I said.

You can count the number of Bama fans that disagree with you on one hand and have some fingers left over.

His style is fantastic for NASCAR but he calls football like he does NASCAR races and it just doesn’t translate.

I love Eli, but yeah, kind of this.

"1st and 10, Bama in a single-back set. Give is to Najee Harris. BIG HOLE up the middle! Harris slams forward, making one defender miss and carrying another on his back down field. That was really a nice run by Najee. It'll be 2nd and 9 Alabama."

Agree. Great idea but not very good. WAAAAAAY too much Eli Gold and Jim Fyffe. Please... Cannot believe they did so little with Cawood Ledford. So many other things they could have done but this wasn't very good.

We've got a couple of good announcers over here in Sakerlina with Todd Ellis and Tommy Suggs...

Todd especially. He comes up with some good little phrases...

"It's third down and a Pickens County dirt road."

Homers? Yes...

But that's what the voice of any team is supposed to be.

You are correct. Even as an Ole Miss fan, I loved listening to Mr. Critil call a game.

I love listening to a game on the radio called by a good one. They make sure you know exactly the situation and the crowd adds the emotion.

Cristil was the King of it. The new LSU guy is real good. "1st down, goal to go from the LSU 4, here in the 4th quarter with 3 minutes left and MS State trails by 1." Just tell me what's going on Jack.

A&M guys are the worst, I can't tell if its postgame or live. David Yellum was the worst but he's getting better.

As a Bama grad and fan, let me just say, Eli Gold sucks. He sounds like Micky Mouse and has zero football insight.

Munson got his real start in the 1950's in Nashville doing Nashville Vols Southern Association baseball and Vanderbilt football and basketball until the mid 1960's.

no Billy Cannon's punt return or Warren Morris' walkoff????

AND no mention of WWL and the impact of clear channel AM radio???

felt like the show was about Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State...with mentions to everyone else.

As a teen back in the 80's I came within a hair of shooting one of Cawood's miniature horses one morning. I grew up in Harlan County and spent much time in Cawood where Cawood Ledford was from and named after. His place was up on Little Creek. A buddy and I were walking thru a field behind his farm to go hunting while it was pitch black. Our flashlights showed eyes staring back at us. I got my shotgun up not knowing what it was until it "neighed" at us. I almost pulled the trigger. My kin laugh their asses off still to this day about that story and how Cawood would've had me strung up if I'd shot one of his horses.

Speaking of radio announcers, why does Florida’s say “Ho My” every time Florida scores? Who is he calling a ho?
