2012 College Baseball Home Attendance
(Rank, School, Average, G, Total)
1. LSU, 10736, 44, 472391
2. South Carolina, 7574, 39, 295389
3. Arkansas, 7957, 36, 286472
I thought I read somewhere that LSU counts their attendance by tickets sold, while the others count it by actual people in the seats (scanning/stubs at the gates, then counting those).
Is that correct?
If so, no wonder LSU is so high, I'd imagine SC/Ark both sell out nearly every game ticket wise, but only half to 3/4 show for shitty games.

All schools do this, and not just for baseball. It's also true of football and basketball attendance figures as well. It's how the NCAA tallies attendance figures for all sports.

Seriously though. I've seen better home plate covers at a youth field.
That's a trap door. Opens up when recruits step on it.

Ah okay.
Be very interesting to see how much our attendance rises this year.
Coming off the Final 4, with a team that is probably better than that team, and getting LSU, OM, MSU, A&M at home instead of away.
Ironically, we only get 34 home games this year, down from 36 last year, which seemed to be fewer than most.

Yeah so your paid attendance wasn't even 8k and you were acting like you averaged having 8k people at your ballgames which isn't really even close to being true. Just keeping you straight.

Doesn't even make sense.

Georgia wont. We don't have the room. Our field is about 50 years old, and the last serious renovation was in 1990 and we used up all the room doing that. The only way UGA's baseball field gets any better is if they rebuild it off campus. We just don't have the room.

But yet, MSU still holds the majority of the top 15 top baseball crowds of all time. Including #1

Completely wrong, and the reason for that is easy to figure out. Suites. Suites are leased on an annual basis at the vast majority of, if not all schools. There is no way to account for suite usage except count at full capacity, which is what all schools do. The seats within suites are already paid for, after all.
So this practice is especially prevelant in football, where most suites are to be found in NCAA sports. Except for baseball schools like Arkansas and basketball schools like Kentucky.
I'll tell you a secret, and it's not really a flame...I don't believe the suites at Baum...which Hog fans are quick to tell you stretch from "foul pole to foul pole"...are ever full. If they are, it's a rare event, compared with Alex Box, where it's the rule rather than the exception. So if any school is overestimating attendance, it's not LSU...
The proof to me is in the attendance figures.

Not quite sure what this was a response to, but only the point trying to be made is that for OFFICIAL purposes, the NCAA uses PAID attendance for baseball. Some schools also report an actual attendance in the box scores, others don't. For football and basketball the NCAA recognizes whatever number the school reports as official, however each chooses to do it. Not sure why they view them differently, but they do.

They are full every SEC weekend with a waiting list to get a suite, hence, adding even more soon.
You are quite wrong there.

LSU has led the country in baseball attendance for 15 years in a row
ETA: Arkansas had a higher average attendance in 2007. LSU only had more overall attendance because they had 4 more home games than Arkansas did.

Guess which one Wildcat Mike is?
UK is about to go to the state and ask for bonding for Football and Baseball improvements. It sounds like the state is about to give the money and UK will have a new baseball stadium...they better put another Party Deck out in right field. It is quite a place to drink, eat and heckle

Yeah they seem to schedule quite a few more home games than everyone else.
I guess that attendance thing is bigger to them than playing away games against good teams like most good teams do.
Luckily though with the expansion, I think we play fewer OOC games, LSU went from 44 homes games last year to 38 this year.
