Like a boss, only SEC school to have suites from foul pole to foul pole? It's also 100% chairbacks except for the "overflow" bleachers in the hog pen(student section). But no one ever sits in those unless it's a huge game.

You don't need to sit much when you're cheering on 6 Natty's and watching gorilla ball sail 'em out of the park for years......................here comes #7 this year.

Nope.

it seems the gators' field sucks,
It's not that bad. They've been making improvements. However, the problem is the sun. The way the stadium is oriented covering the stands won't matter. There's nothing they can do to provide any shade.
We don't have luxury boxes so they could find a way to do that I suppose. It's just so freaking hot during the season with no breeze and the sun blaring down. It's quite miserable.

I mean, you can bring your own coolers in the outfield.
Used to be able to do that at UGA. Then they gave outfield tailgating the axe. I'm still pissed about it.

IIRC a minor league team in Texas had the same issue and would up demolishing the existing stands and flipping the field so the new stands could provide shade. I'm racking my brain as to which town it was in.
Not sure if this is possible at UF due to space issues. I know you have around the same size campus as LSU does but you have that lake smack dab in the middle of your campus whereas our lakes are on the eastern border. You also seem to have more, albeit smaller buildings on campus as well.

Foley isn't going to do that. We are just going to have to continue to suffer. Folks wonder about our attendance but until you sit through a midday game it's hard to get an idea of what it's like. Oppressive is the term I always fall back on.
The O'dome is getting the money this time. Baseball will have to wait.

I was unaware that the sun in Florida constantly comes from all directions, unlike the other states.

College kids, alcohol, and sporting events aren't a good mix. I know people still drink at games. I've spent some time at Olsen Field's beer tree myself, but a lot of kids just can't handle their liquor.
You and I have tailgated together then... who the frick are you?

You are unaware of which direction the sun is positioned during different times of day or are you unaware of how our stadium is oriented and therefore don't understand that no relief is possible even if the stands are covered?

I still call bullshite. I don't care where they are facing. One baseline is always perpendicular to the other.

Call BS on what? They won't be spending money on cover because it won't help for the the majority of the games. The only time it would help is the late afternoon games and even then only part of the stands would benefit.
This is not my decision. Foley made it and that was the reasoning. Write a letter to Foley if you disagree.
Take a look at google maps if you don't believe me. Then google Foley and baseball stadium shade.

You just described pretty much every stadium

are you saying that if they built suites and a grandstand walking area with concessions and a cover over the the suites that somehow the sun would still get into the grandstands?
seems unlikely.
seems unlikely.

State fans, gimme the low down on tailgating at the baseball games. I'm starting graduate school at MSU in January and am pretty pumped for a baseball stadium worth a damn (went to undergrad at Bama) and that allows drinking in the outfield.

It was studied. The answer was no. I'm not talking about suites at all by the way. Just the cover over the stands. The field would have to be oriented differently to make it worth the investment.
I didn't make these rules.
Biggest problem was not leaving enough room around the stadium to make improvements. It's crammed in there as it is. It would take a lot to make significant changes.
Folks that have actually been to the games at UF would know that the sun is brutal and the angle is tough.
