It sounds like the state is about to give the money and UK will have a new baseball stadium...

Good to hear it's finally happening! Rumor had it that $30 mil in stadium improvements(basically a brand new stadium) was written into Cohen's new contract up there, had he chosen to sign it... So, you knew this was in the pipeline either way.

Rumor has it Serrano is pushing for UT to have a renovation as well.

Can't believe that Bama hasn't already done something... You have to know it's coming.

UK's new track and field. Just hired Stanford's former assistant who was one of the coaches for US Olympic Track Team.

As an Alabama fan, I'd prefer not to talk about our baseball stadium. Some high schools in the state have nicer digs than us.

It looks better now than when I went there to a game in 97. Pitiful then.

LSU has led the country in baseball attendance for 15 years in a row. And Alex Box Stadium recently grew with the addition of 6 new suites.

LSU is the only school in NCAA history to exceed 400,000 in baseball attendance. To put that number in perspective, only two basketball programs in the country...Syracuse and Louisville...have ever had a higher total attendance than LSU baseball.

LSU only had more overall attendance

Thus 15 years in a row.

For football and basketball the NCAA recognizes whatever number the school reports as official, however each chooses to do it. Not sure why they view them differently, but they do.

And in each case, suites are counted at capacity. Because for paid attendance purposes, they are at capacity. Not rocket science.

With respect, no. No one goes into each suite and verifies each and every seat is full. Because no one really cares, as long as it's paid for.

I have never seen Baum at capacity, not even when the division lead was on the line.

The only time I've ever seen ABS not full was during that horrible cold front last year when there were maybe 1,500 fans braving the cold wind and rain.

I really don't want to tear down Dudy Noble

Why? The current design is very limited in what you can do in expansion... It was built on a bad angle and too close to the field, so in expanding down the foul lines, those seats will almost automatically suck. Anyone who has ever sat in the bleachers out there realize this -- you get a crick in your neck trying to look at the batter because the seats face at the center fielder instead of home plate.

Also gets us out of the lifetime seat cga's, which are a major problem with the attendance at the current Dudy Noble.

what are the plans as far as keeping left field lounge? That is one area they shouldn't touch

Not that hard when you annually play 4-7 more games at home than Arkansas.

Yes, it's hurting attendance. You have people who's parents bought the seats and have died, but gave their seats to their children who live all over the country who haven't been to a game in 10 years. And they won't give their tickets up or don't even want people sitting in their seat in ticket exchange. Need to scrap all of it and start from scratch. Left field lounge is a whole different animal. People who have grandstand seats sit out there and not using what the ticket is for.
I love the tradition of left field lounge, Hell, MSU started the cookout tradition, but prices for spots need to go way up or they need to build spots and not use the trailers. MSU is getting kill in Revenue, because of it.

Narrow them down/shorten them a bit in right... and give a portion of right field to the students.

The problem with the lounges is that you have to "know someone" to enjoy them... whereas Oxford just has the right field berms where it's a first come, first serve all-inclusive party. Look for MSU to basically copy that on the right field hill under the scoreboard.

Sounds like your beef should be with the Arkansas AD, not LSU. Or it could be that Arkansas plays more away games because your fans stop coming due to cold weather.

agreed... they need to relook at how the lounges are used. We are leaving hundreds of thousands on the table in our current use of them. What is a spot? A couple hundred bucks?

Also need far more skyboxes. We sold out the 18 skyboxes we have before they were ever completed - and have never had a single cancellation in all the shittastic seasons since. Waiting list nearing 50 for those. Clearly need another 30 or so to go with a nice price increase.

I think the strung together trucks and trailers is what makes it unique but that's just me.

I say make right field a deck that is first come first serve and hell even take the big wall down in center and build a deck there also

It's amazing how much baseball has moved into the spotlight in the SEC since I started attending games at LSU 23 years ago. You showed up 5 minutes before first pitch and paid a general admission ticket (it may have been $1 I can't remember) and could sit almost anywhere. Lots of games had a couple of hundred people. First and third base seating had obstructed views from the light standards on the field (we took them down and donated them to Southern) etc....
