If it were that easy, I would agree. It's not that easy. There's no room on campus left really. It's also right near the other complexes so it's convenient. They could blow up the track facility but that's not happening. It would have to be moved off campus and for obvious reasons they don't want to do that.

It's also not shitty. They made some decent improvements. It's just not pretty compared to several parks.

State fans, gimme the low down on tailgating at the baseball games.

There is a walking deck all the way around the fence. There are grills on it but they are all pretty much reserved. You can still find a spot to put a grill sometimes if it's the right game and you make friends with the people. There is a public deck in right field. Get there early and you can stand on the fence all game and hang and get drunk. You can set up a small grill there. Behind the wooden walkway are the trailers. They are all reserved spots and there is like a twenty year waiting list for those spots. Just make friends with someone that has access to one and you can sit there. If you are in a fraternity, your frat probably has one. But walk in the outfield entrance and you can bring your cooler with whatever you wish. There is also a small hill in right field. If you get there early or reserve a spot with a tent, you can use that space. For weeknight games, there will be empty trailers that you can probably borrow. My favorite part of baseball when I was in school was when we would go to my roommates trailer during the week games and have it all to ourselves. Get wasted and cook and not have to worry about any other people eating or getting in the way.

If it helps any, We're just starting to run into this issue at LSU now. It's why LSU is building it's new indoor tennis facility off-campus...

..and frankly speaking, it's an issue that could have been avoided, if the Martin administration at LSU would have agreed to move most of the agriculture school's facilities off campus instead.

Is there nothing that can be done at UF to make more space? Like perhaps moving the golf course off campus, the way most schools have.

The golf course would be a logical target to make room but it's so far away from the central area I'm not sure they would want to do that.

I would guess in the long term it will go.

If you like baseball and tailgating and don't have a job, you will be spending a shite load of time there.

Taylor Stadium (Mizzou) is a dump compared to these.... and while they are planning major renovations to it, they aren't going to add a ton of seats I don't think.

They are building that clubhouse thing behind third base and a little past it which I don't like because they won't be able to add regular seats there in the future. Honestly I am not very excited for the baseball renovations.

Baseball is my second favorite sport. Only job is my graduate research assistantship, which is in Turfgrass Science. Might even help out with the grounds keeping at the baseball and football field. I know a lot of the turf students help out.

Plus just signed a lease about a mile from campus in Cotton District, so it'll be nice to be able to stumble home whenever I've had a few too many.

Reposting this from the other thread...

LSU has led the country in baseball attendance for 15 years in a row. And Alex Box Stadium recently grew with the addition of 6 new suites.

LSU is the only school in NCAA history to exceed 400,000 in baseball attendance. To put that number in perspective, only two basketball programs in the country...Syracuse and Louisville...have ever had a higher total attendance than LSU baseball.

Dudy Noble as seen in the campus master plan.

Speaks to the previous incompetence at the very top of our athletics department that we completely sold out the skyboxes prior to their construction - have a 20 year waiting list for boxes and an unlimited waiting list for lounges - yet, they let the place become a dinosaur.

Got lifetime cga seat contracts involved that we are fighting as well. That's why it's widely thought that we will demolish the place and start over.

As long as you are planning to upgrade, you should be ok. You don't need 10k seats for the place to be a palace. Plainsman is a good example of a smaller SEC venue that's still tremendously nice and well-designed.

Especially being a colder-weather team, you need to look into more baseball-centric indoor facilities. I can't speak for everyone, but State/OM have indoor batting cages/pitching mounds that players have keys to use whenever they want... Also have an indoor infield and practice infield at MSU - and it doesn't get all that cold in MS...

Greater BR area- 802,000 residents

NWA- 434,000 residents

You damn well better have more in attendance than the Flagship.

The baseball team averages 8,000 per game.
