Texas will never be accepted by this board as SEC. The land of misfit toys along with Misery

In my experience very few Texans outside of a line from about Texarkana to Tyler to the Gulf claim to be southern and actually hold southerners and the south in about the same regard as the morons in the NE and Pacific Northwest do. There is a heaping pile of Texas west of that line and you can't sling a dead cat in the first half of that pile of Texas without hitting a damned Texan....the second half of that pile of Texas you might have to tote a dead cat 70 miles before finding ANYONE to hit with it, Texan or not. They simply are not southerners and more than 2/3s of the state ain't in the south. And they don't give a frick....in fact most are happy they ain't in the south and they ain't southerners.

There are some seriously telling tells about Texans which prove they ain't southerners and Texas ain't the south. Outside of their mistaken ideas about pigs and hickory trees being the basis of BBQ and losing to Ohio State. neither of which is an issue in the actual south. Texans drink beer and dance. Seriously. We drink beer in the south also but our grannies didn't, openly, and don't, openly. This is not so in Texas...everybody drinks beer and does so openly and without a bit of shame or regret. It is just something that Texans do and no one thinks poorly of them for doing so...in the south folks will drink beer but they will think poorly of anyone else who drinks beer. The same is true of dancing. Folks in Texas dance. Any community of any size has a dance hall where live music is played and folks drink beer and dance....folks in the south don't dance because they are afraid people will think they fricking standing up....not so in Texas. If 10 Texans, 5 men and 5 women. get together and drink 30 beers and there is some music to be heard at least 4 of the frickers are going to be dancing...and doing so pretty well. If you ain't in a bar in the south you are highly unlikely to find anyone dancing at all....in Texas they do it at county fairs....and its a BIG damned deal. Grown arse men in Texas can and do dance regularly...where most men in the south can't dance a lick and wouldn't do so on a dare for a small fortune. Not only do they dance but they appear to enjoy doing so. Apparently coonasses will do this also. Folks in Alabama? Not on a dare LOL....

Texans are also more prone to cos play than southerners. Dressing up like a cowboy in Texas is a real thing...grown folks will attend funerals and weddings and social events dressed up like a 5 year old and do so without an ounce of self doubt. You couldn't pay a grown man in the south to participate in cos play outside of hunters and fisherman who seem to pay more attention to what they are wearing than what they are doing.

These are just a few observations I have made while studying Texans in their natural habitat. I have also found that they simply do not give a frick if anyone thinks they are strange. If they are dressed like Roy Rogers, drinking beer and two stepping they absolutely not only think its normal they are having a big time doing so. Its almost admirable their lack of self awareness but it does indicate they ain't from the south......

Gotta take these lists with a massive grain of salt given their laughable methodology

Not sure that’s entirely accurate…

Texas and A&M both have waitlisted people for decades and now offer different types of programs that allow students to attend a branch campus and transfer into the main campuses at Austin or College Station after a year IF they meet minimum GPA retirements.

Texas has a lot of universities so lots of options, but also some of those are private schools…TCU, SMU, Baylor, Rice. Those private schools are good options if you have money. But if you don’t have the grades to get into A&M or Texas, you are probably headed to Tech or a much smaller state or branch school.

Texas has a great University system and always has had....devil his due and all LOL. The university system in Texas has always been more "open" than traditional southern states where education was reserved for the children of the wealthy and connected until WW2 opened the door to most white if not most citizens of the southern states. I am sure UT Austin was similar to this at some point but there have been a BUNCH of universities, public and private, in Texas for a long time relative to the south. Texas public schools were, not so long ago, ranked higher nationally than most of the south. This is not true any longer for a bunch of reasons but it hasn't been that long ago.

UTrans is a campus littered with homeless people, heroin needles and UTSA grads on their way to Liberal Arts degrees Then you go to Austin during summer school and you’d swear you were in the Middle East. Has UTrans had any more students murdered on campus by the homeless lately?

You’re delusional. Our UT students clean up very well…

A&M is a blue collar "Everyman" school. We never bragged about being hard to get into.

That was the liberal arts college in Austin.

Our brag is that the value of the education, job placement, and avg salary are above par when compared to other schools.

Honest question: What is Florida known for in academics (or at least like to claim)?
Their accounting and pharmacy programs are extremely good.

That's not really a big deal. Florida was always considered an outsider prior to SEC expansion, and still is to some extent. I get it though. It is nice to preserve a certain culture that is pervasive in the South. It sucks that regional flavors are getting to be a thing of the past. What can you do? People are way more mobile than they used to be, and things are changing fast.

Troll all you want, Florida is one of the better public schools in the country. Great value too. It's gotten difficult for out-of-state students to be admitted.

Unlike A&M, which has turned into a diploma mill.

Another list Texas loves preseason lists … they are in love for their lists lol. Meanwhile they are 0-1 and look lost on offense.

as a father in Texas with a kid looking at schools and many friends with kids who just went to college, Texas and A&M are anything but easy to get into. Texas is down to top 4% of your class for automatic admission and A&M isnt far behind.

Even if you get in, getting the department you want is another story. The UT business school is crazy selective.

Thats why other colleges in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas have exploded is those schools arent easy.

Bro, how old are you and where do you live and who do you support? Every time I see your name you have the vilest nasty comments towards anything Texas or A&M or the state. We get it, you hate Texas and all the schools in the state.

I just picture an 18-year-old in his parents' basement.

How old are you, 20?

Until recently, Aggie has eternally boasted and inflated how "hard" it was to get into A&M.

Just ask any Texas Tech grad about this. You urban "farmers" exuded snobbery to the highest order. You were always loud and emphatic about pissing down at Tech, Baylor, TCU... any and all colleges in Texas.. because you knew you were 2nd to UT.

Yes, you are the 75k "everyman" school today, but that doesn't erase decades of feigned elitism.

That also has a higher ranked Engineering school than A&M.

He lives in Texas (Houston I think) and he supports LSU (which I guess means you like him now). He hates Texas because he was denied admission. He knows all about UT, not just the "brand" stuff - but history, the campus, eateries, stores, student housing, etc. Obviously he had a life built around being a Longhorn.

He just couldn't get in so now he hates Texas with a bitter passion. You can probably detect from his "pen" that he is not top shelf humanity.
