Texas won't be able to bully SEC
It's that simple

We already have one orange and white "UT" with an over-inflated sense of superiority and reliance on history to make themselves feel relevant in football, why do we need another?

Get ready for constant political bullshite stemming from the university of Texas. The SEC made a huge mistake letting more trash into our great conference.

There’s only one downside of adding Texas & it’s having to take their worthless step brother along as well.
Y’all have already brought in the step brother.

I think from a pure business perspective Texas is an excellent move.
The thing with Texas graduates and more than likely with the top brass. Is that their so arrogant. They are gods gift on green earth. We are Texas and you should bow down to us.
I graduated from A&M in 2016. I was an auto admit and had my choice of public state schools. That attitude, and basically the atmosphere of the campus (Austin’s very nice but the area surrounding the campus is very meh) convinced me to go to A&M.
Texas destroyed the SWC. And they will destroy the current B12. However joining the SEC will be a wake up call for them. Where pretty much most of the schools are equal compared to the Big 12 where Texas and Oklahoma were carrying the conference.
I’m actually excited if they do join. I think A&M should welcome the challenge. We’ve been in the SEC since 2012, so now it’s time to see how we stack up on the field. Currently I believe we have a better football program than Texas and if we consistently beat them head to head it will be more beneficial for us.
But to answer the topic question. Them joining will be very good for the conference. The conference will flourish ten years from now.
I don’t think their will be downsides. There won’t be an imbalance of power IMO.

Setting aside how funny the Aggy melt has been, they're 100% correct. Texas is cancer and will play nice for all of 2-3 years before they start their bullshite. OU I'm good with. Texas can get fricked.

The only thing Texas can do to hurt the SEC is leave the conference once they are established. But then any school can do that. What you want to see is all the programs be successful both on the field and financially so no one will want to leave.
As much as we want to beat each others brains in, we really need everyone to experience some measure of success and have a win/win relationship financially.
Texas had to swallow a whole lot of pride to nut up and call the SEC to express interest. So I think from the start this may be a different Texas that they were in the last 2 conferences, but also because Texas isn't going to be so damn tired from carrying all the weight like they were in the Big 12 and SWC.
Just my $0.02

quote:You honestly think Texas is going to be happy forever with the SECs equal revenue sharing? They will eventually try to eat the SEC alive, just like they did to their previous conferences. It's going to get very ugly off the field.
when we are counting the money we can face the reality

The whole thing about screwing up their previous conferences, I don't see it happening here. Texas was a founding member of the SWC and Big 12, they pretty much started out as one of the more influential teams in their conferences so it's no surprise they could throw their weight around more than the other schools
The SEC is a pre-established league that goes back a long ways with a rich tradition, the teams already here aren't going to put up with the stuff Texas was able to do in their other conferences. This whole paranoia about Texas coming in and usurping power from the legacy schools is laughable, they're not going to let that happen

How did Texas destroy the SWC?

Can't wait for the recruiting scandal stories about Bama and UGa that will be posted and printed by the Dallas Morning News and others. The ones that voted to approve them will learn a lesson, it may not be for a few years but eventually the cancer will show its face.

They wont have that level of power.

SEC has nothing to worry about, its self contained & that was the main issue with the SWC. For every B12 theory dig a little and see where those peers stood vs Texas on their own merit.

I know you probably mean well, but even you know that you won't be able to behave yourselves, and within a decade, this conference will be fractured.

UT FINALLY understands its competition that brings them money and prestige in terms of BIG meaningful games in Austin instead of the crap the are used to having in Austin as well as awesome experiences for both their players and fans to go on the road in great SEC venues. Not the thought that Texas shows up and the opponent just bows down because Texas thinks they should.
