The term Redneck existed centuries before the facts you cite. It goes back to the early 1700s and was an insult to the Scottish Presbyterian immigrants migrating to the colonies to escape persecution back home. It usually referenced the poorer Labor classes in Southern States
The use of the term you cite is a bastardization of the term as it was used then insinuate communist ties. It had less to do with education levels or general ignorance and would often be used alongside terms like Bolshevik or radical.
We at some point got back to the use of it in the Larry the Cable Guy/Jeff Foxworthy genre.

Half of Georgia's fanbase is wealthy, educated, and suburban. Same with Auburn.
There isn't much variation in all three of those categories.

4. Mississippi State

7. Kentucky
8. LSU
9. Auburn
10.Florida
11.Georgia
12.Mizzou

14.Vanderbilt
