You also have to take in account that we have completely dominated the BCS age, when team could actually play for a championship appose to just handed it by writer (although the BCS is still run by polls)

True. The majority of the 1980s = No Bear Bryant.

If you just start in the 90's the SEC really bitch slaps everyone. We hated.

Nah, man. The Big 10 and Big 12 were better conferences in the '90s. The SEC took over as the best conference in 2001 and hasn't looked back since.

and then as long as Saban is at Bama nothing less than a BCS Title should be expected out of Bama.

Hence Bama's domination of probation/vacates/majors since Bryant's retirement. Bryant's dominance is 2nd to none but the reality is:
SEC champions and winning % since Coach Bryant retired in 1982:
UF - 8 75%
LSU - 6 65.6%
AU - 6 71%
UT - 5 70.7%
UA - 4 65.3%
UGA - 3 68.6%
=====================
UA's problems isn't the Phil Fulmers, the Gene Jelks, the 'AU people'....it's "nothing less than a BCS Title should be expected", in other words, you. Major #5 in a 20 year period is just around the corner, no doubt.

Yeah you're right. nobody wanted a piece Nebraska in the 1990s. As far as the Big 10? Meh. I think they were about where they are now. Only Michigan as been shittier recently.

You guys sucked until we came in the league in 1992. Looks as if Arkansas made everyone else step it up. #raisingthebar

Tell that to Miami in the 90s and USC now. So long as you have competent leadership at the top, a team can make it through probation relatively okay. Alabama's problem was Phil Fulmer, it wasn't Gene Jelks, and it sure as hell wasn't probation. Alabama's problem can be summed up with two names: Mike & Dubose. Dubose set our program back ten years. Not only that, but the Means scandal happened under his watch. The man is the shittiest coach in the history of Alabama football, Whitworth be damned. At least Whitworth had been a head coach somewhere else before he got to Alabama. Dubose only got the job because the fans demanded it. Sorensen and Bockrath, the pushovers that they were, caved in and listened to the fans. We may have won an SEC championship while he was here but even he will be the first to tell you that he had almost nothing to do with that. It was Alexander, Samuels, and Griffin more than it was Dubose in '99.

I don't wanna hear about LSU dominating Alabama since Bryant's retirement.

Do you even remember the 1990s as an LSU fan? Good god.

Yeah... no way Auburn can win the championship while Saban is at Bama.
