Not sure about 16 team SEC
In the past you needed 4 SEC schools to be SEC sport
Albama + Tennessee = not SEC sport
add Texas + Oklahoma = should be SEC sport now
SEC is split on several sports so probably the reason. Would be nice to see boxing as a sport in the SEC again as I think LSU was the last winner in the 1930's.

Dang, they had boxing up to 1956 at LSU. Coincidentally, the end of LSU boxing aligns with the opening of Sonics in the South.

Maybe off topic but do you realize that States girls team came pretty close to a national championship this year. I say embrace 'em how you can get 'em.

Idk why the SEC doesn’t have wrestling. We have a lot of great wrestlers in the southern states
LSU was ranked 4th in the country I think when they dropped wrestling ( and men’s gymnastics). Scholarships had to go to girls sports.

It grinds my gears hearing stories of how we used to do more with less resources and money, and somehow now that money and resources are in abundance vs 15 years ago, we don’t have enough money to afford sports we did before.

Because the funds have traditionally gone
to football, basketball, and baseball in
the South.
There hasn’t been a push to
add Men’s soccer because the pro leagues
tend to develope their own players without
using colleges as a taxpayer subsidized.
feeder system.

No. It is 100% due to Title IX compliance.

There’s not money for it. Most Schools especially in the south don’t dedicate many resources or money to it. Plus soccer wasn’t even allowed to be played in some states like Mississippi until the mid 90’s. In fact while we were moving from state to state, I was a part of the first soccer team in Meridian and it just hasn’t taken off. Soccer in my opinion isn’t a “bigger sport”, it just seems that way because there’s only a few soccer clubs in each country. I went to England and it’s either ManU or ManCity. Speaking with the fans in hey essentially say, if you only had two football teams to root for in America, then it would be bigger.
Holy shite. Everything about this wall of text is completely wrong.

Not everything. The Mississippi High School Activities Association didn't recognize soccer as a sport until 1991, so it couldn't be played in public schools.

Even today most soccer isn’t played at the high school level. It’s mostly a community lead endeavor.

In England nearly every community has a local team that’s situated on the pyramid of English soccer and it’s considered a mark of pride to support your local club. They may be buried deep in the pyramid, far away from the Premier League or the EFL in general (the top 4 tiers) but that’s actually one of the funnest things about it. Pro/rel. Whether it’s realistic or not practically every team has a path to the top.

Maybe in organized public school competition it wasn't allowed. But that wasn't what he said and based off everything else he spouted off, I wasn't willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
And we probably shouldn't use Mississippi as a barometer anyway.

You should. I’ve lived in Mississippi, Alabama among other states as well as England, Spain and other places. The club leagues aren’t like our minor leagues. Hell they don’t have 200 million dollar high school football stadiums. There’s a couple of big teams and everyone else are playing on dirt fields trying to make it to the top. You’ve probably never even been to a MLS game much less one outside of the country. All I am saying is, most country’s don’t have the NBA, MLB, WNBA, etc.. they have football (soccer), cricket, rugby union, rugby league, and tennis. remove cFB, MBB, NBA, MLB, and 25 NFL teams, and dump all the money into one major sport with a few teams, then it will be comparable to Soccer in other countries.

[quote]We don’t have SEC wrestling or hockey either[quote]
Title IX
MU Hockey is a powerhouse in club hockey and Mo. produces dozens of D1 talent from the state high school ranks more than enough to instantly be competitive in D1 hockey. STL. being the hub, with K.C. being about a decade behind.
There’s more D1 mens soccer players produced by STL. metro, K.C. metro, & Springfield than any state in the Union other than California and yet, we ship all that talent to other states for them to use.
There’s a reason STL. is hosting a sold-out Frozen Four this weekend.
Here’s the rub, unless the people(parents - boosters) create such a shite fit that Title IX is abolished(Trump wants it gone) and be damned whomever’s toes and feelings may be hurt in the process.
It’s beyond idiotic that state residents have and continue to invest in their children’s futures in soccer, hockey, and lacrosse only for a land grant university to not reciprocate that investment, you’d never hear of that or at least hope you wouldn’t see that on the academic side.
Lack of $$$ isn’t and has never been the issue, a lack of will and greed not so much.

It’s expense playing club ball. At that point, it’s a luxury only for those who’s parents for over the money for the bill in college.
The top wrestlers in the South have to go to the Big 10.

You said soccer isn't a "bigger sport" and there only a few big teams in England. Now you are saying that clubs other than "the couple at the top" are playing on dirt fields and insinuating they have very little support. It's not an opinion to say you are dead wrong.
Maybe you misspoke.
Well that's quite a take. I'm surely not bored enough to try and change your mind.
