Keep in mind A&M's 1 is only in 9 seasons unless everyone else with 29.

The "regular season" title thing always triggers me. That's the actual conference champion.

Pretty amazing Auburn will be in sole possession of 3rd at the end of the season.

I wish all conferences would recognize the conference champion by virtue of winning the conference tournament. The ACC technically does it that way despite hanging banners for the Regular Season.

The SEC Champion in MBB is determined by the outcome of the season. The trophey says "SEC Champions." If you win the SECTY, your trophey says "SEC Tournament Champions."

The SECT isn't a championship, imo. It's just for the bid and nothing else.
Agree. In 2008 State won the SECT and got the automatic bid. I don't think State would have made the tourney without it, but was playing really well at the end of the season.
State finished just 3 points from the Sweet Sixteen that tourney. Probably would have gone farther than Sweet Sixteen, Memphis had a cakewalk to the finals that year after beating State.

TBH, the SEC has never cared about basketball until the past decade. It will be interesting moving forward with Auburn, Alabama, etc pumping so much money into the sport. Those two plus Tennessee alone will block Georgia kids from UK.

LSU made the tournament finals last season. That was the first time to even reach the finals since 1993.
I guess that’s why LSU doesn’t travel great for that tournament.
