Get on a plane, you can be in any decent sized city in Texas in 2 hours.
Why would anyone want to do all of that to watch a game between UGA and Alabama in a sea of parking lots in Arlington, TX when there is at least three other soulless NFL stadiums closer to both schools?

Because you made it to the CCG and you're not a poor.

Wealthy people look for value. Personally, I don't really see the value in going to Arlington for an SECCG. Not with the playoffs around the corner likely for both participants in an expanded playoff.
Now we are just talking about matters of personal opinion. Maybe, if (or likely, when) the SECCG is rotated to Arlington, and if UGA makes it, I should go anyway. Maybe I will change my mind.

They could have done a media days halfway between College Station and Columbia in 2012 but it would have taken place in Little Rock, so A&M and Mizzou both said "thanks but no thanks".
Ah, that would have put it more like Fort Smith, but ok.

The DFW metro area is on pace to be home to 8.5 million people within the next five years.
By comparison, the SEC's largest metro, Atlanta, is just over 6 million people.
Houston is over 7 million people.
I think some folks east of the Mississippi River don't realize just how damned big Texas and its cities have become.
It would surprise me none if the SECCG moved (or at least rotated) to Dallas.

Thank you for saying where it will be instead of “out west” or in “new location”. I hate how the media is now.

DFW is 4th largest metro in the US today, begind only New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
And it is on pace to overtake Chicago for the #3 spot in the coming decade or so.
Houston 5th today, on track to be 4th after they also pass Chicago.
Talking about Texas as some "far flung western place" is truly authentic frontier gibberish. Texas is becoming the epicenter of the US.

Greg Sankey will be remembered as the dude that broke up the SEC by expansion. This kind of shite really is how it starts. He does not understand human nature.
A shite move. No understanding of how to keep Texas in check. Or recognize that Oklahoma does as Texas says.
