Let me try another approach:
9 game conference schedule:
Year 1
PODs 1 and 2 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 3 and 4 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.
SECCG POD 1 and 2 best record v pod 3 and 4 best record
Year 2
PODs 1 and 3 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 2 and 4 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.
SECCG POD 1 and 3 best record v pod 2 and 4 best record
Year 3
PODs 1 and 4 play each other (7 games) and then have 2 other games against teams from pods 2 and 3 that can be used to preserve rivalry games should they not be maintained by the POD games.

It was just reported they wont arrive until 2025 since OU is poor and Texas doesn't want to pay their exit fee.

No you don't.
Playing a permanent rival outside your pod doesn't mean that team has to be in your pod or play everyone else in the pod.

Take it with a giant grain of salt but the rumor is that every SEC team was asked to submit 2 teams as permanent rivals and A&M chose Texas and LSU.

That is going to pi$$ off a lot of Arkansas fans. It will feel like being back in the SW Conference again. No love lost with many Arkansas fans for any of the old SW Conference Texas and Oklahoma teams, especially the Texas teams.

The pods are fine but really no way to do it and maintain rivalries without permanent pod rivals. That saves all the important rivalries but also artificially forces some others and means you won’t play the other teams from those pods but once every 3 teases. If 3 teams from 3 pods have the same conference record that’s going to be a nightmare for the SEC championship game.

Hate to stop the circle jerk here, but without Nick Saban, this conference is LSU, UGA, and a bunch of programs who spend stupid money to not win much. I know yall think that money is everything, but I assure you, adding Texas and Oklahoma is not giving the SEC a birthright to the top seed.

It really won't. They have these things called tiebreakers.

I say no divisions , no pods , one designated annual rivalry game , 8 game conference schedule, rotate through conference every two years
