Ain't happening.

It's the oldest rivalry in the SEC
and as another poster stated there should be a permanent rival game outside the pods and rotate the rest except for one less team.

Hopefully they do it the right way and keep it at 8 games.

Would need a 9 game schedule, play your 3 in pod, 1 permanent from each other pod, then 1 rotating from each other pod yearly H&A.

Could keep rivalries plus play everyone at least 2 x every 6 years...

This sounds terrible really. Are we going to force even more rivalries? And the schools have agreed to this?

Anyone who thinks this will happen doesn't know shite about SEC football.

9 works best. Play 3 OOC. 1 FCS, 1 G5, 1 P5 rival (UGA-GT, UofSC-Clemson, UF-FSU, etc).

Then you play a 4 team playoff for the championship of the SEC.

SEC winner goes to the national title game every year.

So every one of your pod opponents, including the “patsy”, dominates you in the all-time series. Nice work!

It doesn't have to be a rivalry. It just keeps other rivalries going. Things develop. No big deal.

Tell us A&M is scared of Texas without telling us A&M is scared of Texas.

The Alliance can have a playoff as well.

Winner of the Big 12, Big Ten, Pac, and ACC all play each other. Winner of that tourney plays the SEC champ.

Why are we worrying about pod rivalries when simply moving AL and AU to the East solves everything?

This is the answer. Those two in the West, especially with OU and Texas, makes zero sense.

They did this already when they created the divisions, and for the same reason.

Going to 9 conference games only weakens the appearance of the conference overall. We saw that in 2020 with conference only games.

If you are going to assign people permanent games anyway, then rather than pods, just make it so the teams keep only their permanent rivals and rotate all the rest.

And you can do it on an 8 game conference schedule and still play basically all teams every 2 years.

What is the point of the pods?

But that doesn't matter if we do it right. You aren't always what your record says. The SEC created a mega-conference. No one else is close. We can call the shots here. The winner of this conference is in the title game or the clear 1 seed with a bye.
