You didnt comprehend the decision.
The NCAA cannot implement the rule because the courts deem them to be a monopoly. Which is stupid. An organization can't set rules for voluntary participation?

However, that same verdict is the exact reason why the SEC can implement the rule.
The SEC is a 16 team organization. There are about 120 other D1 schools outside the SEC.
By definition, it is not a monopoly.
If you aren't a monopoly, then it isn't an antitrust violation.

Wrong. The NCAA nor the SEC has an antitrust exemption. That's why the NCAA lost & NIL & Revenue Sharing came about. In order for the NCAA, SEC or any conference to receive antitrust exemption, athletes would officially have to be labeled as employees, an union formed along with a CBA being agreed upon.

Would be stupid to do that without at least the B1G doing the same. It would make all SEC schools less attractive to high school recruits. And I am saying that as someone who is absolutely tired of seeing kids play for 3 or 4 different P4 schools over their career.

Could not agree more. Excellent first reply

Not if it’s a conference rule. The SEC and NCAA are private organizations and can decide their own rules.

If you aren't a monopoly, you are not subject to antitrust laws.

The courts enforce antitrust laws against monopolies.

The ncaa is deemed a monopoly.
Employee status and unions are not required for exemption. A law is.

Sankey is really trying to kill this conference

Give B1G another advantage when we just finally got back on our feet from the B1G's player transfer portal and NIL contributions.

No one can convince me that this guy works for the league. He does so much to hurt the conference

Then explain to me why the NCAA had to remove the rule of having sit out a year in the first place?

What ever rules are made for the athletes, it should apply to coaches too.

The NCAA has a monopoly on playing college football.

The SEC does not. There are 3 other P4 conferences. There are 5 other G5 conferences with NIL and scholarships.

I dont see why you are struggling to see the difference between an association that regulates every conference and 1 singular conference. Particularly as it relates to monopoly regulations.

The SEC controls the Grant of Rights to each member institution. Not the NCAA which means the SEC is the organization that receives revenue from television deals. The SEC & it's member institutions are an extension of the NCAA.

Are the conferences including the SEC not required by federal to now pay student athletes revenue sharing checks?

Not only that, why did all the conferences have to obey the federal ruling as well?

Can’t be the only conference to do it.

Won’t matter if it is or it ain’t the courts will just you can’t limit where a student athlete transfers and it’ll be what it is. All anyone has to know about college athletics is that Texas Tech seriously intended to have a degenerate gambler on their roster. There is nothing that is off the table OTHER than the programs or conferences not having the ability to regulate anything. We are just a few seasons away from someone telling a conference they ain’t playing the schedule the conference sets….nothing is unthinkable after watching TT seriously playing a degenerate gambler and multiple programs in multiple sports having or intending to have players who have had more than a mild flirtation with a pro league on their roster.

Sankey is all in.

Sanky doesn't do anything to the member schools don't want him to do. If Sanky is pushing for this, it's because the majority of the SEC wants it.

Just like Roger Goodell doesn't do anything the NFL teams don't want him to do.

If SEC had a competent leader, this could be a step to resorting some sort of common sense to NCAA rules are have completely fallen off the rails.

But we have a moron as commissioner, so this will just add to the current lunacy.

It's obvious some members are willing to cut off their nose in spite of their face all because of "nostalgia".
