I don't want expansion, but if they are going to expand, they should add some crappy teams because we've already got tough enough schedules compared to other conferences.

I don’t think there is any way we bring in unc without Duke.

That’s why they are a non fit.

Trust me when I tell you this…you do not want to give UH an invite to the SEC. They will not bring you any extra revenue but will be recruiting in their backyard of one of the most fertile areas of SEC country. Can’t believe anyone would actually think they are a viable option.
I don’t think UH is a viable option, but Tech is not a viable option either.

Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and NC State.
Realistically, I don’t think UVA or Duke would ever join the SEC.

Zero chance ND would ever consider the SEC. I think some version of the bill in Congress even has the limit at 19 teams per conference so if the Big 10 could get them to join.

Edit: ^that is only if we are forced to.
I personally hope we do not expand either but I just don’t know if the ACC will survive another 10 years and I do not think the SEC wants big 10 schools in their states so they may be forced to expand simply to prevent encroachment and keep up with the big 10 in an arms race.

Our only targets should be Va or Va Tech and NC State.

SEC and B10 are playing different games. Both are chasing $, both believe that comes from viewers - but SEC believes viewers = brands, while B10 believes viewers = strongest team in region/market. ACC cant figure it out - Syracuse is strong in Boston and NYC, but is it stronger than . . . Boston College or even Penn St? SEC has quietly batted eyelashes at UNC, and UNC has blushed and written SEC on its baby blue Nikes. UVa has long been rumored to have mutual attraction with B10 - and remember, B10 has non-athletic requirements such as research $ and academic standing.
Notre Dame believes its brand and Chicago market (still more Catholic of city than people think) means it can stand alone.
Frankly, so many teams/brands like K-State and Iowa State have so little cachet and command no media market - they will be lost.
What would be best for SEC? Do you want to keep B10 out of Texas? Go get Texas Tech as a defensive measure. You want brands? Clemson, Miami, and FSU are better football brands NOW, with two being somewhat questionable/mediocre than Carolina ever was under Mack Brown. [To be clear, i don't pick on UNC - Duke is not a football brand even with Spurrier - Syracuse is much more footbal brand, had Jim Brown, Donovan McNabb, while Duke has had Dave Brown and Daniel Jones].
Let me throw a wild card at yall - Arizona Wildcats. Footprint expansion, great brand.

I'm pretty sure there are some on your list who will never be an expansion target.

The best thing for the sec is status quo, the best thing for the big is to expand. The sec is probably trying to figure out what the big ten is planning before it makes a move. How proactive does sankey want to be? I don’t think you want to be in a scenario where the big turns in to a national conference with regional divisions but if they suck up all the big brands not in the sec. The media campaign and tv money would be hell to overcome. Questions is does the big ten want to do that

I think the format of sixteen teams playing three permanent rivals and six teams in yearly rotation makes a ton of sense.
But that only works if the B1G stands pat as well.
There are two universities out there that would move the needle when it comes to network contracts. ND and Miami.
Miami pulls eyeballs in NYC, you cannot ignore that fact. ND pulls from everywhere. You REALLY cannot ignore that fact. If the B1G gets one, or worse, both… That would truly put the SEC behind the eight ball financially.

I think Clemson and fsu would be a big ratings boost for big ten. Both are top 20 viewership in cfb the last 20 years, and the last 5 years. That’s with games against wakes, bc, Duke, Virginia, Syracuse. I would imagine their viewership numbers would ballon against better brands.
