“You would not feel comfortable just putting somebody in a position — if that person was not trained, not qualified to do that job — just to be able to have a game,” Logan said. “So you would not substitute a law-enforcement person who’s scheduled to work team security with someone else because they’re not trained to recognize threats or concerns or handle problems.” Beyond terror threats or other big-picture problems, the university needs qualified officers to handle micro-security issues — ex. a fan fistfight — quickly and effectively. As the weekend goes on, the consequences of the storm will become clearer. If Hurricane Matthew does not do serious damage to the state of Florida, hindsight will prove itself to be 20/20 once again (“The Gators should’ve played!”). But Logan stressed that a decision to reschedule must take place far in advance. “The No. 1 obligation is the teams’ safety, the players’ safety, the coaches being able to travel and have facilities to stay in,” he said. “You’ve gotta look at it far enough out: Can hotels accommodate fans coming in, as well as residents being relocated? You have people that are dislocated by a storm that may be moving into hotels, may be consuming things that teams would use, and people’s safety — their well-being, being dislocated by a storm — would take priority over these teams coming in and using rooms to play a game.”

That's why LSU offered to fly in and out on the same day (no hotels taken up) and even play in an empty stadium (a lot less security, no stadium personnel needed, no fans to worry about)

Florida didn't even entertain the idea and offered no other backup plan.

Per Joe Alleva, LSU offered to play in an empty stadium, FWIW. Zero staff or security required.

What's yalls next excuse?.., too humid to play? Too many clouds? Mosquitos?

Amazing... Maybe they should close school on Monday. Per announcement - UF open for normal business on Monday.
Why? You don't need the same staff to run a school as you would for a football game.

It would have been had they planned it on Wednesday. You are not making yourself look like less of a coward. You UForfeit Gaytards will always be cheating cowards! There is no defense for what you did!

Sounds like LSU was selfish in 2005 and didn't care about the people affected by the storm.

Not even close. Skip wanted to cancel. Then Slive stepped in and forced us to play it Monday.

Agree with everything quoted, which is why these decisions should be made long in advance. Sadly, Sankey is incompetent and didn't realize this, and Foley got the game cancelled, which is in the best interest
Of Florida.

Play it on a closed field with no fans. Televise it.

That is not a benefit to UF. For fricks sake. They'd lose millions you fricking idiots, playing in BR an empty stadium or a neutral site. Football's a business whether You like it or not and UF is not going to lose millions just to appease fricking joe alleva.

Playing in an empty stadium has been done recently.

UF never intended to play this game. Could have agreed on Tues to moving the game to Sun or Mon

The only point of this is FLA is scared to play LSU...plain and simple...

There is no other explaination.

Yes there is.

Florida is looking to back into the SECCG by not having to play an extra conference game. Completely gaming the system.

And they are pussies.
