We suspected he would stabilize the situation and make sound judgements.

We knew the defense would be good. The offense was the question with Collin Klein coming in.

No one saw Marcel Reed doing what he is doing. Although he did ball out in the bowl game this past year.

SEC Coach of the Year

At this point, to me, it’s Lea. He has made Vandy must watch tv, which is a huge accomplishment. He picked his coaches and used nil and the portal well and deserves all credit due him.

Elko is doing a good job as well but his was dealt a much better hand.

Both are worthy. Let's see how Vandy & A&M finish.

I swear you consistently have the worst takes on this board. It's Lea by a mile.

If Vandy eeks out two more wins then I can see Lea in the conversation.

No, Vandy has implemented Jerry Kill's offense, with Beck (a Kill disciple) play calling. Pavia just followed them there.

Beck and Kill bringing in their philosophy is what has allowed Vandy to not be Vandy. We have seen what Lea was capable of without their offensive philosophy and it's miles behind.

Yes. Lea is the guy that brought those folks in, adjusted, and that has completed what he already has.

To suggest he isn't responsible is just dumb.

Lea should be SEC COY but I wouldn't be surprised if Elko also gets named in a Co-COY situation. My guess is Lea also has a shot at NCOY. Folks don't understand just how hard it is to win at a bowl level or better at Vandy. Vandy's last bowl season was in 2018. They've only ever been to 9 bowls in their whole history and 3 of those were under Franklin.

A&M already had talent on the roster from Jimbo and has a far larger NIL pot than Vandy.

Most Ags know exactly what Elko is. And this is supported by our outrage that dumbass Bjork tried to hire Stoops.

If Vande keeps winning, I would support Lea. But I do not think that happens. Vande is becoming beat up and the depth becomes an issue.

Or Elko wins out and easily wins it.

Whomever wins more games at this point to end of regular season.

And some of you are wrong about what Elko "inherited". He certainly inherited some great players but he worked ABSOLUTE coaching magic in the portal. He completely revamped the entire defense. And credit must be given here.

Lea isn't responsible for most of the Vandy success. That would be Tim Beck, Diego Pavia, and Jerry Kill.

Right, Lea is just riding the coat tails of his no name former JUCO QB no one else wanted. What a weird take. Vandy was supposed to win 2 games this year and may win 8

Sounds like good coaching decisions to me

He absolutely is. Kill's offensive philosophy with Beck calling plays and Pavia as the trigger man is the only reason Vandy is having an "Un-Vandy" year.

Call me dumb. Call me whatever, but the new variables at Vandy are the people from NMSU that now own the state of Alabama, for now, in college football. Has nothing to do with Clark Lea other than him getting them on his staff.

If you think the hiring of assistants and how an HC works with them doesn't matter, I can only point you to Lexington, Kentucky right now.

Clark Lea only focuses on defense. Outside the tertiary duties of a HC off the field, that is. He literally brought these guys in and fired his DC so he could take over what he knows. Defense.

Just Google Jerry Kill's official job title. "Special advisor to the HC" aka "shut up and run my offense"

Ok, you're dumb. What do you think a successful head coach does? First and foremost, it's to assemble and/or maintain the best coaching staff possible and get all those coaches to work together with a common philosophy toward success. Other than coaches that also act as a coordinator, everything else is secondary to that. It's the coordinators and position coaches that do most of the recruiting, most of the coaching, most of the game day prep, most of the in-game play calling.

So he recognizes he's a defensive coach and he needs a quality offensive guy to compete in the SEC. That's exactly what a good HC does.

Again, I can point you straight to Lexington to show you how important it is to recognize that if you're a defensive coach you have to bring in guys that you allow to run the offense and run it well. Stoops and Co.'s decline the last couple of seasons is exactly what happens when you DONT have a HC that can't stay out of his own way.

If aTm takes care of business like they should the next few weeks, it’s 100% elko. And he did that with an L in week 1. It’s impressive

This place would melt. This whole thread is knocking on Elko, and making it seem like Lea hasn’t been there 3 years.

What’s crazy is that Elko and Lea worked together. Lea was Elko’s position coach until he went to A&M and Lea went to Vandy. Both were Brian Kelly guys.
