Alabama wins out.
Ole Miss wins out.
Georgia only loses to Ole Miss.

Under this scenario, Ole Miss and Georgia would play in the SECCG. Alabama, with only 1 loss, would still get a first round bye in the CFP. Alabama gets about 6 weeks to rest and heal while Ole Miss and Georgia beat each other up.

Win/win for Alabama.

But congratulations to Georgia for winning a meaningless regular season game

Ole Miss hasn't beaten Mizzou since 1974. Good luck with your theory though.

I don’t think that I’ve melted about the game. There’s a few that probably did, but I don’t think it’s as many as you infer.

Told wifey *no pics* before the game that both teams would likely be in the playoffs no matter the outcome.

Not a melt, not a cope, just fact. PM

We lost..it’s over and done. That being said, if we can make the playoffs without having to play the SEC Championship game I would be pretty happy. The SEC Championship doesn’t mean as much anymore…jmo

Congrats on reaching Step 3, I guess.

It’s almost uncomfortable how embarrassing bama fans are after a loss. The excuses, blame, and overall poor sportsmanship is so much worse than I imagined it would be after the fall of Saban leaving.

I swear there are batches of alters released after these games to keep the “melting” alive.

This is what happened to ole Miss last year and honestly it is the best case scenario to get a home game and avoid extra wear and tear

That isn't guaranteed.

Does Georgia even play Ole Miss?

ETA: Apparently they do.

I’m glad to see some SEC fans wake up to the simple fact that these games in Sept and Oct mean little to the top teams. Sure, for the mid tier teams they are life and death every week but for Ohio St, Indiana, Bama, UGA, Miami, ND, these games are just part of the process to get ready for the playoffs.

We also are always down the years we play you. I don’t think we win this game because our defense is trash but it won’t be because of the situation it was in previous times we played them

Yea, I actually was really just talking some smack there. I think this game will be close, and as much as I love Drink and this team ... it's hard to win on the road. Ole Miss will hit us in the mouth for sure.

I really am excited for the game though, going to be there in person to watch it. First time tail gaiting in The Grove, and seeing a game Vaught–Hemingway. I obviously hope the Tigers pull it off, but I'll be pulling for Ole Miss in every game after.

I hate that you are right. UGA is living proof that the CPF made the SECCG irrelevant. Indiana is the ONLY team in the 12 team playoff era to win their opening round game. It was only a few years ago that saying the SECCG was meaningless would be sacrilege. We likely won't even have one in the next 2-4 years.

Same, I’m pulling for Mizzou after this game too. I ran into some Mizzou fans here before the State game and they seemed cool. I think it’s gonna be tough, though. Simmons to Cayden Lee is a dangerous combo and Mizzou has plenty of other weapons as well. I don’t feel so confident we pull this out. Our defense is just too spotty. Also, if our D stinks it up, it might put our offense in a position where we have to score on every play. We shall see though.

Wake up?

Hell it's been the argument against it the entire time. The playoffs ruin what was the best regular season in all of sports.

In the old days, this game against Georgia this past weekend could have very well been a deciding game in the national championship picture. Now, I'm just thinking - well we looked pretty damn good and I think we can beat anyone overall.

Many people flat out predicted and warned of it.
