We’ve somehow won 4 of 5 SEC series with our trash hitting

Being #2 in ERA goes a long way.

Well considering you probably have the best 1-2 starters not named Rocker and Leiter, I think the chances that you put it all together are pretty damn good with that hitting.

Pretty sure most of our HRs have come in the past 2 weekends
We have been an excellent hitting team all year (hence the BA ranking) but have sucked major arse in RBI, LOB, doubles, HRs, and Walks. We must lead or be close to leading the league in singles.

Funny thing is there’s nothing particularly dazzling about Tennessee based on these specific stats but they’ve remained in the top half of the conference to this point in April. I’d attribute that to a team with veterans doing what veterans should do. Curious what fielding percentage looks like conference wide. I would guess UGA has to be middle to bottom with our youth and injuries

Georgia and VandyBoys are the only two teams who are in the Top half of each category.

Yes, Tennessee does all the little things that lead to wins in close games.

This shows how good our starters have been and how bad our bullpen has been.

Yeah that looks about right. Crazy because we’ve been close to or led the league in fielding the past 2-3 years under Stricklin. Underscores what an odd season it is for this program, especially relative to other teams that seem to be benefitting from a lot of returning production that would normally be gone with a full draft

You don't have to tell me what an odd year it has been. UF is normally a really good fielding team and though we have improved during SEC play, we started off the season atrocious.
This is total fielding percentage for all games, not just SEC.

Hogs keys to success this year has been Defense, double plays, quality at bats, and dingers.
Hopefully the ERA begins to lower as we start to play teams ranked 11th, 12th, 13th on that batting average ranking list. Plus getting back Zeb and Noland will help quite a bit as well.

So the Vols have one more series with decent pitching. Cool.
