One more conference week to go. Here is where everyone stands as of May 11th.

Reminder that this year the committee will do things a bit different:
- In addition to RPI, they will also start looking at KPI and DSR when reviewing resumes
- They will seed teams 1-32, not just 1-16. So, we should know who got the toughest of the 2 seeds but I am curious how they'll square it away if, say, the 16th seed is in the same conference as the 17th seed (assuming they attempt to do a snake-style seeding)

*Composite Poll Ranking = Avg. of D1Baaeball + Baseball America + Perfect Game

Where I see things as of now:

National Seeds
Georgia
Texas
Auburn

Hosts
Texas A&M
Alabama
Florida

In the tournament
Miss State
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Tennessee
Oklahoma

Bubble
Kentucky

Eliminated
Vandy
LSU
South Carolina
Mizzou

If they will take 7 teams to host, I think Miss State can be a host. I'm just not sure they will take 7 and Florida may end up with 18 SEC wins after this weekend which puts them over the top.

We miss out on 13, 15, 16 in conference. 15-15 might be a host.

I said it last week but I think Ole Miss and Arkansas will tear through someone's regional as 2 seeds. Just seem like the kind of teams that will perform better with a chip on their shoulders on the road against non-SEC competition. As per usual, I think you could make a case for up to 9 SEC teams to be hosts but seems like the committee tends to cap us at 6.

Like last year, we can improve our stock greatly by making it to Saturday in Hoover.

That's also going to be a factor. Some pretty pivotal series this weekend, too. Auburn vs UGA is a great matchup but probably doesnt affect either team too much. But Oklahoma vs Tennessee, A&M vs MSU, Ole Miss vs Bama, and Arkansas vs Kentucky are massive series for seeding and postseason opportunities.

Something something “growing the game”

Which I get. Would be pretty tough to call it a national game when it’s all concentrated in the southern US.

It tends to happen to those SEC teams right on the periphery that for all intents and purposes should host but they’ll hand it to someone else to not have 8-10 SEC hosts.

Alabama fell victim to this last year. 14th in RPI but they hand a regional host spot to Southern Miss instead and Alabama had to travel to Hattiesburg.

It's not a hard and fast rule, just has tended to be the norm:

2025 - 8 hosts (6 national seeds)
2024 - 6 hosts (5 national seeds)
2023 - 8 hosts (4 national seeds)
2022 - 4 hosts (2 national seeds)
2021 - 6 hosts (5 national seeds)
2019 - 6 hosts (4 national seeds)
2018 - 4 hosts (4 national seeds)

Last year we got 8 hosts but 6 of those were national seeds

It is very cramped in the last few spots to host. Looks like they need to expand the tournament to 128 teams.

Totally kidding, but you know they would if they could.

Looking at the full landscape with Coastal and Kansas crapping the bed this weekend, the SEC will get at least seven hosts.

ACC

Locks: Georgia Tech (2), North Carolina (5), Florida State (7)

Maybe: Wake Forest (17)

Big Ten

Locks: UCLA (1), USC (8)

Probable: Nebraska (15)

Maybe: Oregon (19)

SEC

Locks: Auburn (3), Texas (4), Georgia (14)

Probable: Texas A&M (10), Florida (11), Alabama (6)

In the Hunt: State (12), Ole Miss (13), Oklahoma (20)

Probable: Nebraska (15)

Big 12

Maybe: West Virginia (18), Kansas (22)

Sun Belt

Probable: Southern Miss (9)

Other

Probable: Oregon State (16)

That's 14 Locks and Probables - of the Maybes, here are the RPI rankings

12. Mississippi State
13. Ole Miss
17. Wake Forest
18. West Virginia
19. Oregon
20. Oklahoma
22. Kansas

I think right now, the last two spots are State and West Virginia. State locks it down if they take 2 from A&M. Ole Miss would probably need State to get swept because they are 0-4 against State.

The Big 12 will probably get the last spot - right now you have to give it to West Virginia.
