Except instead of playing another P4 conference SEC teams play Furhman.
Based on your logic then even if the sec is the best conference the schedules are equal because sec teams take a week off.

Southern Miss's stadium holds 36,000. Their average attendance last year was 22,500. That photo is deceiving.

Is that stadium in someone’s back yard?

USM has a nice stadium. Capacity is only 38K but not a bad seat in the place. A very fan friendly stadium. I have been to quite a number of games there over the years.
We did a two for one deal with them so I don’t mind playing a game there this year. Especially the first game of the year.
Should be a fun atmosphere.
I can remember back in the Reggie Collier/Favre era when USM played MSU and Ole Miss on the reg...
Always were competitive and USM won a few of those.
I also believe that at that time USM had the highest enrollment of the three schools. Now their team is no good and they are a significantly smaller school than Ole Miss and State.

Very true. USM from 1975-2011 was a very good football program. But 2012, the conference realignment, the rise of USA, Troy, Lafayette, GA. Southern and other schools have eaten into their historical recruiting areas and that has killed their football program. Still a good baseball program but the other sports are generally struggling nowadays.
Now Charlie Huff is a good coach and he might can get them to a better place in football. But the obstacles in front of him going to be a tall hill to climb.

My 1st house (ex wife got it after divorce) was a mile from CSU. I used to walk to their games. For 20 bucks, you could get into the stadium and get concessions twice. That program was literally built from scratch. The alumni base is nonexistent (used to be Baptist College). Best known alumnus? Sen. Tim Scott.

looks like Charleston southern has a visitors side like high school stadiums, that visitors side looks smaller than most high schools and probably holds 200 people.
maybe thats where the band sits or something and all fans are on the same side, not sure

Other than that you haven’t attempted to schedule a top OOC opponent and the majority of the SEC operates the same way.
It’s honestly amazing the SEC has gotten away with it for years including the week 8-9 where everyone in conference plays nobodies.
Yet, Texas clamored to be part of it...

Props to Texas and A&M for playing the in-state FBS schools.
Double props to M-State for playing USM.

CSU does have portable seating that attaches to the visitors bleachers. I will admit that the permanent seats don’t add to much tho

Because our 8 conference games are typically harder than any 8 games of any other P4 conference. I would love to play Northwestern and Rutgers every year. The average B1G power team only has 3 to 4 difficult games a year.
Such a weak arse take.
I actually agree with TexasWranglers. Too many SEC teams, especially Ole Miss and Missouri are scared to death to play tough non conference games.
I want a 9, or even 10 game SEC schedule, one non conference game against the Big 10 and just one non conference game against another P-4 conference team. No more weak arse non conference games to prop up records.

Yeah, me too dumbass. I've advocated for 10 SEC games and no cupcakes.

Florida vs Long Island takes the prize. Good grief that’s pathetic.

Sweet thread OP!
1. May God have mercy on the uca fans who have to look at that field every home game.
2. Southern Miss with a much more impressive stadium than I would have guessed.
3. Charleston Southern is smaller than our local middle school stadium.
4. Georgia Southern was designed by Frankenstein Architect Inc.

UF shouldn't be allowed to count that as a win.

I want the SEC to go back to 10 teams and then play a 9-game conference schedule.

Florida should be embarrassed by playing that school but then again anyone who wears jorts has no shame.
Posted on 7/5/25 at 1:54 pm to Landmass
Man they got some SEC teams that have really been scared to actually play a true first game.

And WTH is the deal with the Georgia State stadium?
It started out as the track and field venue for the 1996 Olympics. Then it was converted into Turner Field for the Braves. Now, GSU uses it.
