"The best part about this is the offensive coordinator is still here. He knows what it looks like, he knows what he wants. He knows his offensive staff in large part is here as well. There's not going to be much change. To the naked eye, you won't see hardly anything.

quote:

"There will be some things every once in a while in a situation, worked in the NFL. NFL has a lot of trendy things that people use and no one did it better than LSU last year using NFL concepts. There's no intimidation at all. I look at it as you know what, you want to be a part of a great system and this system already is great.
"I just want to add to it when I can and do what I can to continue exactly the same approach, Steve's vision, Coach O's vision and move ahead. We're going to have a lot of fun to replace the guys we lost. We look at it as a reload, not a rebuild and think it's going to be a great experience."

quote:

If I had to pick one or two colleges that I'd go back to college to coach, this was the top because of the players that come out of here. When I was in the NFL for 17-18 years, we're evaluating players. There was always extra time put into the LSU players regardless of what the offense was 10 years ago or what it was last year, there's always great players coming out of here.

You can't just replace Joe Burrow. I almost never saw him make a bad decision in many games last year and his accuracy was insane. He also had no fear in the pocket (very rare). I've never seen a better QB season in my life. Edwards-Helaire was also a great weapon that will be missed due to his versatility.

However, I do think the offense will be really good again. Most teams will not be able to stop Chase, Marshall, the stud freshman TE, etc., with Myles just being solid. He doesn't need to be Burrow for the offense to be really good. But there will be moments that I am sure we will notice that Burrow is no longer back there.

"I'm sure Aaron Rodgers got a lot from Brett Favre, sitting there watching him during his first couple years in the league," Linehan said. "I think that'll benefit him in a great way. The fact that there's not a system change at all, he recognizes what we're doing and he's a really bright kid. Picks up stuff right away, the new things. Has a really good grasp of concepts. I'm impressed with how he throws it so I'm excited to see what Myles can do."

Linny was highly coveted. Pretty telling he opted to work with Steve and Myles instead of Sark/Mac or Jimbo/Helen

I don't know about highly coveted but he says he had other offers

quote:

"The No. 1 thing was I had options to stay in the NFL, but there was a handful, maybe a couple colleges that I would be overjoyed to be a part of their program and LSU was at the top. For whatever reason, as it worked out, it was still available by February. Just to be able to work with Steve, Coach O.

A guy with his experience in the NFL is going to have options. Agree that "highly coveted" may be a stretch. But, this isn't like we just picked up some leftover meatloaf.

I'm curious where we go from here.

You have to think Ensminger is about ready to either retire or go back to being a position coach just based on his comments so does Linehan become the OC in 2021 or does he parlay this job into something better like Brady?

That's all contingent on a somewhat successful season of course.

The same coordinator that wasn’t very trendy or exciting before the passing coordinator came aboard?
