Watching that, it doesn’t leave much up for interpretation.

He left his ex wife, but hes likely referring to moving away from his grown kids who live in DFW. Maybe his folks too, not sure. When you’re somewhere from 17(?) years, you grow your “family” even if it’s not blood.

Left out a huge part of that quote

quote:

“That’s unfair to talk about something like that. That would be like you asking Montgomery if he’s going to sign in the draft. But I understand you’ve got to ask the question. But I gave up a big part of my life to come take this job. And I poured every ounce of my soul in this job and I gave this job every ounce I could possibly give it. Write that.”

I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M.

I hate to get too technical, but I'm pretty sure his wife and family left him, lol

I don’t blame him for not bringing his family to live in that dump college station

Does he think that aTm will give him a jumbo Jimbo buyout?

Buyout is minimal. Family is everything.

Coaching for the Aggies has aged him quickly.

He won’t be leaving over money. We can match or exceed the offer.

If he prefers to live in the Austin area or wants to work with CDC then neither of these can be matched. It’s reality and just how it is. Ags will have to make another good hire.

Just the nature of competing for coaches.

Again, you left out the only context that mattered. This part told the true story
