re: If Texas beats Vandy, would there be any reason for Notre Dame to be ranked ahead of them?

Although Florida has been a disappointment, they had a bye week, as did Kentucky, before playing Texas. So there's that.
Hate to say it, but right now there are 15 QBs better.

Good news...OU will be a much better team this year
Bad news...this will be the best team they have for a long time

Got a bum shoulder...better hope he gets and stays healthy
He's clearly telling the truth, or Auburn would be doing better. This simply rings true.
I am a huge Sark fan. However, since releasing that video, Sark has lost every recruiting battle. Recruits have responded with "Show me the money!" He could have saved all of us, including recruits, alot of time and taken a vacation the past two weeks. He clearly has no plans to compete for top ranked players unless they are a lineman or QB. I hope he knows what he's doing. He's either right and most everyone else is wrong or vice versa.
Texas pays for linemen and QBs. They will lose out on other positions because Sark conserves NIL for linemen Moving forward, they will lose out on battles at RB, WR/TE and DB. Just watch.
I honestly believe OU, even with a much tougher schedule, has a better chance at the playoffs than A&M.

Texas will next year
So very sad. Prayers for Coach Smart and the family.
SEC/Big 10 Alliance
Posted by hornfan46 on 1/3/25 at 7:40 pm
All the talk concerning SEC supremacy and the affects of NIL and the portal are secondary in importance to the imminent alliance of the SEC and Big 10.
Over the next few seasons, both leagues will expand to 20-22 teams and breakaway from the NCAA. Notre Dame and other outliers will join one of these conferences before the door closes.
The ACC and Big 12 will lose their more marketable programs like FSU, North Carolina and Clemson. Major league college football will be born and, much like the NFL, will have two leagues competing through a similar playoff system. I believe this is where all of this is heading, and soon.

re: Texas still #1 in SEC. King of the SEC baby!

We are not the king of anything. The SEC is too vast and talented for anyone to rule over it for too long. Saban was king, now Georgia/Smart is.
The games weren't good, but the NFL playing 2 games Saturday was a major contributor. The League needs to take a step back and quit competing so much against their minor league system. Also, Goodell and owners, stop playing in the middle of the week on 3 days rest. Your players deserve to take Christmas off.

Good posts all around. It really comes down to talent.
Hornady, are you his agent? I've rarely seen such excessive praise over a relative unknown. I'm sure he's good, but better than Steve Young?
re: Is Mateer now the best QB in the SEC for 2025?

Mateer is a better runner than Sellers? Uh, no.

OU will be 6-6 or worse next year. Not concerned about their team, just pointing out their hypocrisy.
Oklahoma Hypocrisy
Posted by hornfan46 on 12/19/24 at 8:30 am
Remember when Lincoln Riley packed up for the west coast in 2022, leaving Oklahoma high and dry? The righteous indignation directed at Riley from OU faithful was palpable and seemingly deserved. Even I was tempted to feel some level of sympathy for the Sooners.
I should have known better. 3 years later, after villifying Riley and sentencing him to Sooner purgatory, Oklahoma hypocritically followed his example.
Washington State, already reeling from the Pac 10 breakup, pieced together a bowl season this year. Their reward? Oklahoma hires their OC so they can get their quarterback. Sound familliar? This resulted in Washington State losing their head coach yesterday.
All is fair in love, war and college football, especially with the portal. Just
be wary of those that feign injury only to celebrate when they do the exact same thing.

7-5 is correct. They will start 5-0, then the brutal schedule kicks in and they lose 5 of their last 7. Mateer then transfers to Oregon, like Gabriel, and OU starts over from the beginning.
Sellers and Manning will be better
