I’m not surprised at this one. It seemed probable even before Mack came on board yesterday. I’m sure he’ll end up doing well wherever he lands.

lol, can't wait for the "he wasn't that good of a recruit" comments even though he was #1 ranked QB for 2024

Bama fans should be asking themselves if Saban intentionally tanked the program for his own legacy as the GOAT and make DeBoer the fall guy.

Saban could’ve left in February to keep the portal closed but instead he’s let everyone feast on alabamas talent and recruits. It’s a feeding frenzy.

Exactly. He could be the next Blake Barnett

This world is getting so confusing. There are rumors he is going to OSU cause he loved BoB and he led his recruitment.

I feel like i'm in the twilight zone

Feel like Ohio State really wanted Cam Ward but then he pulled a fast one by declaring for NFL then going back on it to play at Miami. Seems like OSU wants a better QB than Will Howard

Milroe might as well leave or move positions. He is never going to start again. Deboer wants a real QB.

It wouldn’t have mattered. As soon as he retires it opens for 30 days when coach leaves.

Umm, this is surprising, did any Bama insiders see this one coming?

The portal opens anytime there's a coaching change

Ty Simpson was 5 star too right? You just never know for sure with QBs

This is pretty much the worst time of year to do it though. Get through spring ball or summer and keep a team together.

I mean we just got a Washington QB yesterday. I'm sure they knew this and were willing to make the trade.

I know this is tongue in cheek, but DeBoer should have never taken this job following the all-time greatest. The stress and the intense pressure of this job following Saban just isn’t worth it. Should have waited on a fall guy for a few years.

That’s not how it works. If the head coach leaves a team, a special portal for that team opens for 30 days. This is a major reason for the feeding frenzy. Alabama has a loaded roster, and they’re the only team east of the Pacific time zone that can be raided atm. The combination of these idiotic portal rules which punish a program for a head coach waiting to retire until after the season ends, the phenomenon of infectious impulsiveness, and young men possessing still-maturing prefrontal cortices is to blame. Some of the portal guys haven’t even attempted to get to know the new coach.

I remember how every single member of Alabama’s team stayed after the NCAA gutted our program in 2002. That would be absolutely impossible today.
