Julian Sayin did not leave because Austin Mack was coming in. More like Austin Mack came in because Julian Sayin was leaving.

Despite Sayin being from California and having offers from almost every school, DeBoer and Grubb were never once interested in him

The Bama copium has reached critical mass overdose mode at this point. There is not enough Narcan in the world to save this crowd

That’s speculation so you can continue to suck off Downs. If Downs wasn’t projected to Georgia you wouldn’t be so adamant with your argument and beliefs.

That doesn’t even make sense. How good Julian Sayin is has zero effect on how good Downs will be for UGA.

I simply believe that even though QB is the most important position , there’s a massive bust rate in CFB today at the position.

Here are the 5-star QBs from the last 3 cycles:

Arch Manning
Nico Iamaleava
Dante Moore
Jackson Arnold
Malachi Nelson
Drew Allar
Cade Klubnik
Conner Weigman
Quinn Ewers
Ty Simpson
Walker Howard
Caleb Williams
Brock Vandagriff
Sam Huard
Kyle McCord
JJ McCarthy

I see 2 names on this list who have actually been difference makers at the QB position.

Caleb Williams
Quinn Ewers
Maybe JJ McCarthy

So they effectively traded one of the top QBs in the 2024 class for the #214 overall player from the 2023 class?

Check out these Olympic level mental gymnastics from the Bama board:

Horse shite. Austin Mack is a talented QB with a year of college under his belt. This is at worst an even trade.

I think you had a valid point, but this did not help your case. McCarthy was obviously a difference maker. Several of those guys were just freshman and will likely make a future impact. For example, I bet Tenner fans would say Iamaleava is the most important player on the Vols’ roster right now. And there are several other starting QBs there.

Be careful with that one. Let’s see if he runs a system that makes QB shine in the SEC first.

That says so much about DaBore’s approach to the recruiting process. Did he think UW don’t have a shot and therefore not even try?

The other thing I haven’t mentioned is how easy it is to get a really good QB in the portal these days.

Bama will pick up a top QB transfer in the next year. If you are a top SEC program, you won’t have a problem getting a QB

My thought exactly. Coach can't trust any of the "Saban" QBs until they earn his trust.

There are hundreds of guys like Klubnik & Allar out there.

Like I said, as of now, there are only 2-3 true difference makers on that list. Bama will have no problem landing a transfer QB as good or better than 80% of this list

And the other thing I haven’t mentioned, which is probably the most important, is that of the 3 difference makers, two were transfers.

The odds that Sayin was going to go to Bama, wait his turn, and become a top QB without transferring is extremely low. Like I said, JJ McCarthy is the only one who even somewhat matches the criteria

Yes I’m sure DeBoer just didn’t want a 5*+ QB like Sayin on his roster

ETA Maybe he is still doing is onboarding and new hire training

A guy who’s never played a snap is a bigger loss than the best safety in CFB?

When the starting QB is a RB I’d say yes.
