I’ve been to Broussard, so I think that’s a fair comparison road-wise.

The bridges are really old and likely unsafe to drive on.

I started at LSU in 1977. They required a Louisiana high school diploma and an ACT score. I'm not sure if there was a minimum score for the ACT, but Cajunbama obviously wasn't able to meet one or both requirements.

Something mean: CB apparently resides in LA which obviously brings the collective state IQ down a notch or several.

What did I lie about? Louisiana State was an open university that only required a Louisiana High School diploma (snicker)

And this is why you are fricking stupid.

in the recent past

I’m not even sure if or when this may have been true, but it sure as frick wasn’t anything recent, lying dumbass.

Full disclosure, I'm an A&M graduate, but I went to LSU for law school. I fully support both schools; further, I love Louisiana, & LSU was a blast.

However, Alexandria is the taint of North America; you don't even get off work for Monday or Fat Tuesday during Mardi Gras!!

Sure the state's roads are terrible, but the food, folks & fun of Louisiana allow one to overlook the state's shortcomings UNLESS you live in "Alec"; I did a 6 month stint there & will never, ever go back (unless Tunk's is still open & I'm passing through)!!!

Louisiana State was an open university in the recent past, meaning all you needed to do to be admitted was have a Louisiana High School diploma

I never knew that. Wow.

My one and only time in Alexandria I made the mistake of asking the hotel front desk people where to eat and they both recommended a newish TexMex restaurant as the best in town. Against my better judgement (I really wanted some Cajun/Creole) my curiosity took over and I just had to see if Louisiana could actually do TexMex.

Spoiler alert: they can't. It wasn't even what I'd call average TexMex in Texas, and even the salsa tasted strange. The next day we finally did some Cajun and it was just ok, not great.

Moral of the story? Alexandria is indeed a shithole, and looks borderline dangerous after dark even though it's not a large city.
