If there's a way to F up the SEC, Sanky will find it.

So you think pro football and basketball are communist, and baseball is just the best?

Pro football is a trade association legally. Is that the SEC charter as well?

How many communists are in this conference?
This has always been a nonsense take when examined for more than a second. The point of contention with filthy communists is that they want equal outcomes.

The point of sport and competition is to see who is the best based on an agreed upon baseline/starting point/line whatever.

You don't stagger the starting places at a track meet and make some racer runs shorter distances than others and then call it fair. Salary caps and floors are the opposite of communism in that sense.

Sure, but the SEC having one “salary cap” and everyone else having a different one does us no good.

And teams will outsmart the salary cap just like they did when paying players was “illegal”

Sorry I'm a free market capitalist, not a communist

As you, I am the former. Unfortunately, the “academics” running the show are the latter.

So all athletes must train with equivalent equipment. All athletes must train for the same amount of time. All athletes must eat the same diet. All athletes must get the same amount of sleep. Otherwise you are staggering the starting places at the track.
Preparing for a game and playing by the same rules during the game are NOT the same thing.
Every team has the SAME OPPORTUNITY at the start. If your team can’t recruit or raise NIL, then that’s on you.

In another thread it said the Big 10 was looking at this as well at a clip of $49 million while the SEC was considering a $21 million cap. Why???

Because the reporters who are reporting this are saying it is whispers and rumors about discussions, nothing is on paper. You are jumping ahead in your conclusions.

Is it safe for me to assume you are a libertarian?

What do you think about the salary caps in the NFL, MLB, and NBA?

Another point of order- OP says it is "AD's, presidents, and GC's" from the SEC that are pushing it, but Sankey is somehow the fall guy for this idea.

You’ve missed the point entirely. If the B1G has a salary cap of 49M, but the SEC’s cap is at 21M, then the idea of fair, competitive competition is thrown completely out the window. Do you seriously not understand that?

Nobody can stop a player taking NIL money which is not included in salary.

The SEC is reportedly considering adopting a new rule similar to the Big Ten’s that would establish a salary cap and impose financial penalties on programs that exceed the limit, per Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

They can only limit what is paid directly by the University. They can't limit third party NIL without legislation to protect them. The schools may have to distance themselves from the NIL deals, but they will find a way.

For example, they can't stop Arch from selling glasses etc.
