these players are going to sue the SEC for not allowing them to come back. Let's be real - this is a similar rights issue to NIL, and the the league lost on this issue in court. . It's not a slam dunk win, but it's a good chance the players prevail. So they might win the rights for this to happen every year. Or have it implied, which means more lawsuits next year for players who don't make the roster to come back.
Sankey and the SEC could've compromised and come to terms moving forward to prevent that happening, but they blew it. Now it's to the courts!

So now players can sue to join the SEC, even if it's against the rules of the SEC? What if there wasn't a university in the SEC that wanted them on their roster? Can they sue to make a team roster them?

A ton of athletes dream of playing on an SEC team, that doesn't mean they have a right to do so.

Whatever LSU did is severe enough that the rest of the Presidents in the league are up in arms. Not fans. University administrators.

I think it's a much more straightforward case than NIL. The NCAA told these players they were not eligible for a 5th year even though they fell within the time window to be eligible. They sued, won in court, and then the SEC says, "Sorry, you're still not eligible to play in the SEC because you went looking for work after the NCAA wrongly (per the court) ended your eligibility. We'll punish any team that hires you." That seems like a clearcut loser to me.

They have proof you don’t know about. The NFL coaches have all but admitted it is out there. Sometimes, lots of times, things go on behind the scenes the public doesn’t know about.

The AG said no one who is named in the lawsuit has even been served yet they are being required to be in Birmingham today and appear before the Tide judge.

For the record I don’t know. I am not a University President and have privy to that information. It is called a guess for a reason. Whatever they have is serious

Your entire argument is “they might sue, might win and might create a precedent,” followed by “Sankey blew it” as if your guesses are court rulings. A preliminary injunction is not a final victory, and NIL compensation is not the same issue as professionals returning after signing NFL contracts. The SEC members already settled the policy 15-0.
By “compromise,” you mean the other 15 schools should surrender because Kiffin wants an exception. LSU backed down, and now you’re praying some future lawsuit will make it look brave. That’s how badly your argument folded with them.

I think you might also be giving too much credit to University administrators that may just be reacting emotionally to whatever they see on social media.

University administrators don’t really act emotionally. They tend to be pretty level-headed for the most part. That is like the CEO of a company going off the rails

If the SEC had serious violations against LSU, why did they start off by claiming the players were still ineligible in this conference, even after the court said they were fully eligible? The first thing the SEC did was threaten to punish any conference school that rostered those players. Then, after the court said, "Sorry SEC, you can't do that", suddenly new allegations of LSU violations are bandied about. This gives the appearance that the SEC is fishing for a way to circumvent the court and make the players ineligible. Their solutions is to go after a team with threats of expulsion using "free speech"?
