he's flexible. last nite you saw him with the same game plan I've seen over and over against decent defensive lines. got a Heisman winning rB? is the other team determined to stop him? fine. we'll do everything but try to run the ball.

throwing those bubble screens for 6-8 yards on first down. the comeback passes for 6-13 yards. moving the chains. even though they don't score early the sap on the other side of the field keeps trying to establish the run against a brick wall and turning the ball right back over.

dantonio's only hope to stay competitive last nite was to run the 2 minute offense the whole game.

I have to wonder if henry would even be able to start at another school. against the better defenses he was able to mop up in the last 20 minutes of the game after Alabama was up by multiple scores and the other teams were worn down. not knocking henry. but on any other squad would he be a star?

saban is a great coach at a school with a winning tradition, easy to recruit, and his reputation lifts the recruiting to a much higher level.

and he doesn't struggle to establish the game he wants to play. he attacks your weaknesses. he did it when he was at LSU. He finds players to fit in.

he is not stubborn, in other words.

Thanks for bringing some maturity around here.

Spot on. I even agree with you about Henry. He's better than a lot of RBs but not all world by himself but he doesn't have to be. Fits perfectly with Saban. Same for Bama QBs in this system. Don't turn the ball over and they'll probably win in the end.

Good post.

It's not as if Henry sat on the bench while another guy softened the defense, only to come in and reap the benefits of a tired defense. Why do you think they were tired in the first place?

Furthermore, many of those passes were run-pass options Coker had depending on the defense. To Coker's credit, he generally made the right call. But lots of Bama QBs have had that same power. He probably is just now getting it though since he's at the end of his first year of experience.

Saban was playing 2nd strings at the end and he was still wrecking MSU.

It's just...you have to stop and admire what Saban has done at Alabama.

What I'll never understand is how teams can watch all of Bama's Regular Season games, see what works and what doesn't against Bama's D, then not even try and take advantage. Bama can be beaten over the middle making LBer's cover in space. That is the weakness in their defense. Even last night the only success MSU had was with the TE over the middle. Additionally, their secondary is somewhat young and can still be taken advantage of a bit for the time being.

You HAVE to spread the offense out, and get the ball to athletes in space. It's not difficult, and I'm shocked the first fly sweep attempt from MSU came in the 3rd quarter (and got a false start)

I absolutely loved Bama's gameplan on offense. Kiffin called a great game and Coker played better than I have seen him play. Mad props for the offensive gampelan

man, what's the matter with you? i'm just saying - why don't other good coaches get it? it's as if they have an evil spell on them. no matter how much film they watch, they believe they are different and can beat the other team's strengths. they keep banging their heads against the wall.

saban doesn't.

tht one big pass to their TE was a busted coverage where our MLB when outside to cover a WR who was already covered thus leaving the middle wide open.

the fact that MSU kept it close as long as they did isn't a great testament to Saban, it should have been over by the time the 2nd quarter rolled around.

but isn't Kiffin running the Bamp offense anyway?

Bama doesn't beat good teams in the first quarter..They beat teams due to what happens in the first quarter.
Did you think the Spartans had any chance to win after Bama had a 17 points? I didn't think so.
No matter what you say to belittle Saban and his team it just shows your bias. Or your stupidity.

Mike Shula proves that it takes more than just coaching at a winning school.

Henry would be good at any school. He is a part of wearing down the defense. Not sure what game you are watching.

Saban is a very good coach and he is the elite recruiter. One 5 star goes out another backs him up. He built that. Does it help doing it at Bama? Absolutely. It is one of the best fits between coach and program you can find in any sport.

I don't like Bama, but I respect Saban and the fact he has figured out the formula of dominating his sport in what is CFB's most dominant league.

Frick you Saban

yea gratz on beating a glorified HS team, dumbass,

like I said, 1 team w/ pulse, coming up. Now your gumps have to actually show up and play.

and you ignored my other point, is Kiffin the coach in waiting at bamp now or not?

Only a fricking shite swastika fan would call a playoff team a high school team.

You're right, not an impressive win at all.

I think it went pretty much like a lot of our wins have gone this year. Slow start offensively, maybe a one or two possession game for a half. Once they get rolling they rack up the score in the third quarter and then close it out. Simple but effective. Screw style points.

MSU didn't "belong", tOSU would have put up a better fight.

Yea I don't disagree, there's nothing wrong w/ "wearing them down" as part of your strategy as long as it's not your entire strategy.

A slow start offensively but Kiffin did pretty well w/ what he has to work with. As much as everyone wants to hate him he's proven to be effective and doing a very solid job as OC, he has to now be considered on the very short list of replacement candidates if Nick were to up and retire out of the blue, not that it's likely going to happen.
