No one wants that job if Saban is lurking around.

Exactly. Still had winning seasons almost every year, with just as many 10+ win seasons as losing seasons. Until the mike years, which were 15+ years after Bryant's retirement. And even the Mike's each managed to have a 10-win season. (Price doesn't count since he never coached even one game)

Gene Stallings did the same thing. The Bahr Jr. is salivating at the thought of the good ole boys running the show again. T Town Menswear will be back to roaming the sidelines on gameday too.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. Workaholics like Saban don't know how to stop; however, I think he sees the writing on the wall with NIL and the portal. There will be more parity in the game and he can't stack the deck against the opposition like he used to. This way he gets to assert some measure of control over the program without taking the blame if they have a down season.

That would create nothing but division and resentment in the locker room. It would eventually destroy your roster management. Imagine being a 5* Stud player who committed to Bama and then the former coach, chews your arse out, despite not being one of your coaches. You'll be looking to the portal in no time to get away from that kind of nonsense.

Could Alabama seriously be letting Saban do, what Fulmer did to UT. “Retire”, but still have a voice in football and heavy influence on the program till he was made AD. Then Fulmer just wrecked UT as an AD till he was forced out again.
I think its more likely a way for Saban to help them recruit when he feels like it, and to try to keep the team together in the meantime. I doubt he is actually that involved.

Whoever they hire is going to be fired in 3 years if they don’t win at least 1 title.

That is probably a true statement. However the new coach could win a title or two in those three years.

Interesting that you think that a new coach would come in and win a title or two and then up and leave on his own. Only Saban would do something like that.

This is what makes me believe that Rees may be a real possibility.
