Nice diatribe.
Fulmer went to AD and heavily involved with NCAA probation for Smokey. You better sit this one out!

Interesting scenario:
Bama does well and Nick gets credit for "mentoring" the new HC.
The team craps the bed and it's the new HC's fault.
And though out it all, Nick still gets to chew arse. The players? Assistant coaches? The new HC?
Sounds like an atmosphere any head coach candidate would love.

More likely Coach Saban takes back the reins and unretires. That is a possibility that most of you do not want to think about.
I do not care either way, the last 17 years was just like the last 17 years with Coach Bryant, either competing for or winning NC for the most part. The winning did not stop after Coach Bryant and it will not after Coach Saban

See Jerry Jones meddling with the cowboys. Never a good thing. New guy has to be the only guy.

Can see that immediately backfiring, what new coach would want to have the predecessor coach looking down upon them which happens to be the greatest CFB coach of all time...

Bro, you are headed straight back to the 2000’s where AU had a 6-peat on you and lsu was 7-3 against the gumps.

I’m truly going to enjoy this fall from Grace. Bama fans are already completely delusional.
Nope, being realistic. I am not saying it will happen, but you just never know.
Even if Alabama goes back to being a normal Alabama team they will still win at least several SEC titles and national title every decade. Even during the darkest time at Alabama they still did that.
Alabama's "fall from Grace" is still better than just about any other teams best years. It is just better at Bama.

No, that’s what you hope happens. Reality is Bama is going to be the next Tennessee, wandering around in no man’s land for 25 years

You might want to keep that number handy for yourself. Alabama has a history of making even average coaches great and great coaches superior.

You must not remember the decade after Bryant.

More likely, he's remaining for a time to reassure the current players so they don't get in the portal. He can also help the new coach establish recruiting connections, and offer advice on potential recruits, assistants, etc.
Makes too much sense, huh?

I am not hoping for anything. I was there when Coach Bryant retired, and still Alabama competed for and won NC. The only thing that really stopped Alabama was probation, and that is not happening now.
Alabama will never go down to the level of Tennessee, there is to much talent in the State of Alabama.
I do not expect Alabama to win a NC every year (although I would like it) but to return to normal and win one or two every decade.

I can't argue with that, look what it did for Ray, "it takes a Giant to follow the Bear", Perkins and Bill Curry.

You guys should be top 10 team every year I’m sure. But think about it… Saban is gone, you now have NIl and transfer rules that are making things a more even playing field, adding OU /TX to the league and now you have got a win 3 to 4 extra games to actually win a national championship. Just be glad you had the run you did with how the situation was set up. LSU benefited from it too at times…but no one more than Saban.
