24-3 loss to a 5-5 team that’s been embarrassed a couple times should nail the coffin shut.

Oh please. All I 've heard from SEC fans over the years was about how Tennessee has been irrelevant for 25 years.
If playing in the SEC Championship game in 2007 and losing by one score (after driving into the redzone with 2 mns left before turning the ball over) is 'irrelevant', then winning that game is hardly prestigious.
As far as I'm concerned, the SECCG is a dinosaur that needs to be done away with. It hasn't been prestigious since at least 2006, when it became clear that the loser can be dismissed as irrelevant.
All that matters now is the playoffs. If you don't make the playoffs you're irrelevant. That's a hard truth that SEC fans are going to have to get used to.

I mean...if that game made the loser "irrelevant" than I want to hear your opinion on 1994. Alabama was undefeated and ranked #3 in the country with an outside shot of winning the national title. The Tide lost by one point to 9-1-1 Florida and was then relegated to a Citrus Bowl appearance against a three-loss Ohio State team.
Had the SEC Championship Game not existed in 1994, Alabama would have won the SEC outright and likely would have played #1 Nebraska for a shot at the Bowl Coalition National Championship.
