Saban lost at Kyle once, correct? Surprised he is bitter enough about once loss that he has to create a lie.

I don't think that was automatic, but it's been so long ago I don't remember 100%.

A&M is so loud not because we have 100k plus but because we have the largest student section in all of college football and give them decent seats including most of an entire side of the stadium. For big games that's over 40k students standing and yelling and they are near the opponent bench (the area directly behind the bench between the 40's are former students). That's why it is so loud, no one else comes close in terms of the amount of student seats and their quality of seating in proximity to the opposing team. They actually invested in a lot of acoustics as well with the Kyle rebuild to make sure we could trap in sound.

First time I've thought about this but it makes sense. Can't wait to see the playoff game

40,000 students is the key, but those roofs over the East and West stands make a big difference. Originally, they were only going to put a roof over the West stand as the East one doesn't do much to help with the sun, but decided to spend the extra money because of the benefit it would provide in directing sound from the student section down to the field.

Well I’m a season ticket holder at LSU and I can tell you that LSU does it all freaking game. Especially the garbage rap music.

I hope this isn’t true. That would be completely trash and against the rules.

I feel like the SEC front office would have done something about it if he complained and it was true.

It was not automatic. Referees would step in and stop the play clock until the crowd quieted down. Then, QB's could look at the referees and say they couldn't hear and the refs would step in several times before calling a penalty. Finally, as usually happens a lot of QB's would claim they couldn't hear to get the refs to step in and give their offense more time, even when it really wasn't so loud, so they stopped doing that and just said it was a apart of the game, deal with it.

I had forgotten about it, until you mentioned it.

I can confirm they pipe in noise
They have microphones around the stadium and speakers all around on the field level. Sat 5 rows off of the field a few years ago and noticed, I’m sure it’s gotten worse

Guilty.

Every now and then, info like downs, yardage, penalties, promotions/sponsorships, player names, timeouts, recognitions, upcoming events, etc. are shared over the PA system.

What Saban really did was give ever person at Kyle even more reason to yell their head off.

It’s going to be above jet engine loud. Like unable to hear at all loud.

I like Coach Saban but he is full of shite on this subject.

Does he expect to be able to hear anything when 108K+ maniacs are raising hell?

Been to games all over including big games in Tuscaloosa. Nothing strange going on at Kyle Field, It is loud crowd noise.

There isn't any other school in the USA that has 40,000+ students in prime seats right behind the visitors bench. Plus a roof that directs the sound toward the field. Would be strange if it was not extremely loud for the visiting team.

Saban is such a pussy. Yes A&M “pipes” in music and the other entertainments that all major stadiums do. No, they do do pipe in crowd noise. A&M was noted for crowds getting into the game way way before SEC play. Saban is exactly like the sainted Darryl Royal..when he could no longer use his cheating as an advantage…had to play everyone on an equal basis…he bailed.

doncha know? - we put one of these under each white towel and hand them out just inside the gates to anyone who wants one -

fans with seats in 301/309 & 501/509 & 900s can opt to have these tucked under their towels

to really get ahold of all the babies of visiting fans we toss out of the upper deck corners too
