Saban refuses to use NIL to attract players

Saban
quote:
When we start using name, image and likeness for a kid to come to our school, that's where I draw the line," he said. "Because that's not why we did this." Saban said it has become such that players are weighing prospective NIL earnings among schools and "we all gotta make a deal." "I hear these crazy people on TV who say now you're doing it above board," he said. "We never did it. We never did it. We never cheated to get a player. We never paid players to come to our school. "And now that's actually happening. People are making deals with high school players to go to their school." Saban said it's simple: The schools with the most money -- whether through alumni backing or other means -- "have the best chance to have the best team." "It's not about coaching and developing as much as it is, what kind of money can you make?" he said. Saban also took issue with the way the transfer portal discourages players from dealing with adversity, as he put it. "It's great that players have the freedom to do what they can do, but I also don't think we should create circumstances where they don't have the make the commitment and see things through," he said.

Insert pictures of the 9000 alabama players with custom dodge chargers

In other news, pot dealers hate legalized pot.

His quarterback that he played all year had about a million in endorsements before he started playing for Alabama if I heard right. They’ve been paying kids for years and now it is in the open and legal and now he doesn’t want it.
All that said, I am pretty much checked out on football altogether now. I hate the nfl and with the NIL, I don’t give a shite about college either.

I know saban been paying players but let's say he never did. His raw coaching ability would have still pulled in several #1 coaching classes. Now you have Texas 8&4 paying 30mil for the #1 class and dumbo fisher running the show that can't coach a football team out of a wet paper bag.
While I think these kids do deserve compensation for what they do, the whole NIL process is hotdog water. I would rather see the best coaching staffs get the best players and if you were really desperate sneak a couple hundys under the table for a top guy you weren't in on.

This is like Joe Biden getting up and spewing lies.

Saban does not get his hands dirty. He has the REC to do that. Plus his magnetic personality attracts the best.

He states this, after just last year bragging about his QBs 1 million dollar NIL deal. Too funny
Got it Sabin, NIL is good for Bama to help in their recruiting. Not so much for other schools.

Because you suck arse. Youd be all on board if you had a team worth a shite. News flash for you: basketball is 10x worse and your coach has been the dirtiest for a LONG time.
Take your pious horseshite somewhere else.

You don't really believe that, do you?

It really isn’t because auburn is shite in football. Transfer portal put a bad taste in my mouth and the NIL hammered it down. I don’t think I am going back to watching football whether auburn is good or not. I have too much other stuff going on to concern myself with it and especially when I don’t enjoy it anymore.

I would hate football too if I were an Auburn fan

But I bet you love basketball now….despite it being even worse with 1 and dones, NIL, and the NBA is 50x worse than NFL
