When this all gets sorted out, that's probably what coaches will do. Every program will have a department responsible for advising the athletes on the proper procedures to market their NIL.

Wholeheartedly agree with his sentiment. NIL is getting ready to turn CFB into the NFL.

But he is full of shite if he thinks we believe Bama has never paid a player

His raw coaching ability would have still pulled in several #1 coaching classes.

Probably not true. If you are completely playing by the rules and the teams you are competing with are giving out tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) to poor families then you are not getting #1 classes no matter how many national title rings you have.

This is in no way a knock on Saban as he is perhaps that GOAT but whether or not he wants to admit it Bama has been paying players as long as anyone and it has helped them keep a competitive edge

I agree, but that doesn't mean you stop recruiting them. It is a filthy, terrible system. But, it is the one the coaches have to deal with now.

I have to agree with this. I don't like it but it's the way it is now. You gotta play the game or leave the game.

and as Kiffin noted, and as I noted already on this very board, the NFL has salary caps (and a draft), that regulates salaries and prevents a few teams buying the most best players. Only idiots don't understand why this is necessary.

Agreed, they have mechanisms in place to prevent an imbalance in player talent.

NIL has none of these. I should have said that NIL will turn CFB into an unregulated version of the NFL.

It will get regulated. Everybody involved, fans, players, coaches, administrators, even the NFL, want college football to survive and thrive. Regulations that everybody plays by is the only way it can happen.

Nah. It's equivalent of "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, miss Lewinsky."
Or 'Read my lips.
We're not raising taxes."
