No. He means it. He looks out for his players and doesn't want them to take a pay cut.

paying 30mil for the #1 class

You do realize the source for that 30mil number is a sports message board at Oklahoma University?

The schools complaining about the NIL are the ones who were cheating before the NIL. Now that everything is out in the open, the schools with the big money don't have to hide it in Dodge Chargers. The playing field is now level.

Saban probably has no idea what’s going on behind the scenes.

He probably doesn’t want an incoming freshman making more money than his assistant coaches. He is getting old and not using NIL to sign recruits would be a mistake. However, I think he could pull it off for a while at least…

For recruiting purposes he boasted about Bryce Young making 7 figures

Lower than at Bama.

An Alabama receiver wins the Heisman trophy while an LSU receiver sits the year out. Which one gets drafted higher?

Don't think there are any worries about that against Auburn anytime soon

There really isn't much difference between head coaches and politicians these days. They are such good liars.

They're both clearly pedos in Louisiana, that's for sure.

Is there where you pretend you don't care about football anymore then melt about it for 3 pages?

BS. Committed to what? Sitting on the bench? Losing your scholarship getting sent to the portal?

Saban is the GOAT, but an obnoxiously whiny one.

He states this, after just last year bragging about his QBs 1 million dollar NIL deal. Too funny

Maybe we are reading different statements. The statement in the OP Saban talks about refusing to buy players by offering them NIL deals to sign before they set foot on campus. You know like a&m did this year. Young is a sophomore and received his NIL deals once he was already on campus not as a recruit.

Got it Sabin, NIL is good for Bama to help in their recruiting. Not so much for other schools.

when saban doesn't have an advantage he usually pouts. remember when he complained about the hurry up spread offenses and then started having the SAME offenses ran at alabama?

Every time Saban has come out to respond that some new change will hurt CFB he has been right. But he is not whining just saying people will gain advantage and Saban so far has been the biggest benefactor.

Usually when Saban speaks rules change.
That's why his Media Days press conference has turned into a state of the union.
He's the sport's only national voice and celebrity coach.

The only way the rule changes is if the United States House of Representatives passes a bill limiting how much players can make off of their name, image, and likeness.

That’s not going to happen.

Jimbo was right. NIL has been going on for a long time. It’s now all out in the open.

What a hypocrite!! REC has been paying players since Santa Claus was a little boy.

No need to try to convince anyone he isn’t aware of that.
