Year in and year out the difference between LSU and Bama has been consistency with depth at OL and DL.

QB position yearly has been better at BAMA

All the other positions have been level

Before the past few seasons, Bama's quarterbacks were not anything special. I think the biggest difference in Bama's run was in the offensive line and scheme.

Kelly is definitely a better coach than Orgeron, and personally I think he's a solid coach and hire. The only question I have, which is to be had for any new coach coming into the conference, is can he handle the week to week grind of the SEC? We play challenging games one after another. At Notre Dame, two maybe three games a year at the most should have challenged his football teams. Keeping the players motivated and playing at a high level every week is a lot tougher than two games a season. I'm not saying he can't do it, but it is the challenge he faces and that all coaches face in the SEC.

Hell , what’s he supposed to say ? I believe he complimented the job Les did as well.

But..but...but... You've got to "perceive it as a shot at Orgeron"...

I think the under 5’-8” club members are just a really tight-knit group and have each other’s back.

George is right.

They are both hard nosed “old school” coaches.

My stepdad was like that too, he has nick-named “The Godfather” of coaches by the media and they put “old school” on their workout shirts etc.

No ear rings, no bullshite, yes sir and no sir, blood, sweat and hard work. He just won championships. It’s hard to be that way now.

He and Nick were always good friends and got along great. The bad blood between our respective coaches is probably over.

Plenty of people dislike Saban for one reason or another, but he has always generally been nothing but respectful of his opponents and opposing coaches

Agreed. From his time there, most LSU fans would probably admit that on a personal level, he's actually a very kind person with high moral values.

Professionally, he's a savage in terms of proficiency, which (like Belichick) leads to a complete intolerance of bullshite.

The Nick Saban that we only see at work on Saturdays (and the one people tend to dislike) is almost always the later.

Nick is only really friends with other football coaches in my humble opinion. (Maybe other coaches) He could like you, be nice to you, etc, but I really think he only truly identifies with other coaches. Its a different world and lifestyle, and really a small group overall.

He is very lucky that family bleed navy and gold and were forgiving. That video is unreal, if that was my son, I would want to bury him. That poor kid deserved better.

I'll just leave this here.

And...
comments on McElwain:
“I’ve always thought Mac was a really good coach, really good guy, well-liked by his players, really good teacher,” Saban said. “Very innovative in terms of creating issues for the defensive team, but doing it in a way that is doesn’t create problems for his own players. It’s not like you’re running new plays all the time, but maybe the presentation is a little bit different.

“The guy’s integrity professionally, the kind of person he is, it’s all A-plus. So any success that he’s had is not at all a surprise to me.”

Honestly you might be better off having Pioneer say he's gonna have a great season.

You're not entirely wrong, but the big difference is that they were consistent, protected the ball, were good game managers. They could get the ball to our playmakers.

I was watching the 2014 Bama LSU game the other day, and it was amazing how bad LSU's QB play was, and has been for most of the last several years. If LSU had a competent QB in that game, they probably would've won comfortably.
