Saban said team meetings can be good or bad depending on the message and how it’s delivered. But he also warned against doom-and-gloom predictions for his defense.

“I think it’s really up to the players, but I also think that every player has got to look at what they have to do to try to improve and get better,” Saban said. “I think everybody can contribute in a more positive way by just a little better execution. The effort was good in the game, the toughness was good in the game. And really for three quarters in the game we played pretty well against a pretty good offensive team. We just didn’t finish the game like we needed to. I don’t think anybody needs to be panicking.

I'm fine until we win by less than 17. At that point I'm going to be riled.

I will be a lot less worried about it when we get a couple of our linebackers back. I have a feeling our pass rush will improve then and the screen passes will be blown up more often. I have never seen a Saban team give up so many yards on screen passes. And the Rams ran for like 140 yards too. I am not used to that.

I have a gut feeling that the Dores are in big trouble. Bad timing will be the cause, and mouth running.

Bad timing because the defense is going to be pissed.

Yes, yes they probably will. MSU will most likely have an abortion of a game that only rivals LSUs debacle. Then bama will flame LSU fans for it being such a cake walk to beat them.

I don't think any flaming we could do would be worse than 37-7.

no need to worry now.....theyll either get it together and bust some heads, or you play the 4 and 5 star freshmen and let them take over......one or the other....

There are a few players on that D that play with a sense of purpose. I wouldn't want to be playing them when they get a mad on.

Hamilton
Evans
Harrison
Payne

All of those have the ability to take over a game.

Add in Davis once he figures out he's the most physically imposing player on the field no matter who we play.

Sucks how life is unfair. You lose two starting linebackers to injury and are concerned about depth at the position? At 95% of CFB programs those losses would initiate an irrevocable downward spiral to oblivion.

Expecting to hold our offense to 14?

No offense, but as good as Vandy's defense is, their offense is pretty mediocre. Half the points scored are against Alabama A&M.

Don't get me wrong - Vandy could pull off the upset. That said, I don't think so.

I'm glad I had a great weekend. Because missing that melt is disappointing.

Bama has 4 injured linebackers, 2 starters and 2 backups. Three of the four should be back soon. I am not saying it is unfair. Injuries are one of the adversities all teams must overcome. All I said is I will be less worried about opponents being able to move the ball when they return. I couldn't less about what it would to do lesser opponents.

It wasn't just two. Alabama played Saturday night without 5 of the linebackers on their 2 deep.

Christian Miller - out for season, torn bicep
Terrell Lewis - out for season, torn ligaments in elbow
Rashaan Evans - out last 2 games, groin
Anfernee Jennings - out last 2 games, ankle sprain
Dylan Moses - out last 2 games, concussion protocol.

Even our depth isn't good enough to not feel that.

I understand the depth at LB can cause defensive issues but our front four not getting more pressure than what they do is my biggest concern. We just got busted for 144 yds rushing not against an option team but against a team that just lined it up and ran it down their throats.

True, it will be by more than that. Probably by 26-30.

The UA D line is designed to funnel runners back to the middle of the field so the L backers can clean up.
If we short 5 LBs we will not look too good.

You really need to call up Sean White and see if his guy can hook you up with some Xanax 'cause you're stressing way too much.

Over half (75) of those yards came on CSU's last two possessions of the game with Bama up 41-10 when the first one started. Even then, both of the TD drives were aided by multiple penalties. Here's who accumulated those penalties:

Christopher Allen (15 yd personal foul) - Arrived in August true freshman linebacker. Did not play against FSU. Recorded no stats against Fresno State.

Jamar King (5 yd offsides) - Senior defensive end. Did not play against FSU, one tackle against Fresno State.

Isaiah Buggs (15 yd roughing the passer) - JUCO defensive end. 2 tackles against FSU, did not play against Fresno State.

The guys on the field when "We got busted" for all those yards were on the field to get experience and build depth. The fact that they didn't play as well as the starters and backups elevated to starting because of the injury situation shouldn't be a surprise, didn't really seem to bother Saban, and shouldn't bother Alabama fans.
